Parkside Primary News Week ending: Friday 20th September 2024

Tempest Photography

On Tuesday 1st October, Tempest Photography will be in school to take individual portraits of the children. Please note that on this occasion only individual photos will be taken.

You will be given a unique reference number that will enable you to order your photos online on the Tempest website.

Welcome Meetings

Thank you to all those parents and carers who were able to attend the welcome meetings last week. If you were unable to come along, please visit the year group pages on our website to view the presentations.

Timestables Rockstars Day

We had a great day last Friday being Timestables Rockstars! Well done to the tournament winners. Remember, children can also log on to TTRS from home to practise their timestables.

Polling Day is nearly here

Well done to all of the children who have put themselves forward as candidates for the School Council. The election will take place on Tuesday 24th October and children across the school will have the opportunity to vote.

It is a great way for the children to learn more about the democratic process.

Donate while you shop

Thank you to everyone who has nominated Parkside on the Asda Rewards app so far!

There's still time for you to get involved! If you download the rewards app (it is free to download), click on the 'Cashpot for Schools' graphic on the home screen when you open it up and please choose Parkside as your school to donate to. Every time a customer chooses Parkside, Asda will donate £1 to our school’s Cashpot. Between 2nd September and 30th November 2024, we will receive a percentage of every spend. Our cashpot is already building nicely! Don't worry, it won't be taken out of your rewards, you won't lose out and the school will gain!

Spotlight on Attendance 🔦

Please remember that absence from school = lost learning. Please also be aware that a period of five unauthorised days out of school will incur a penalty notice. Please take note of the changes to penalty notices and our updated attendance policy. This information is also available on the Absence & Attendance page on our website.

See below for attendance over the last two weeks.

Being in school and having the best attendance possible underpins all the many benefits of school for your child, such as their learning, wellbeing and wider development.

The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.

School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.

What an absence means for your child?

At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.

If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.

Kids Club

Kids Club have spaces available for before and after school care. Parents/carers can enquire by emailing parkside.kidsclub@hotmail.co.uk or popping into the school office for a form to register interest.

Kids Club would also still appreciate your votes in the Tesco community grant scheme. The blue tokens can still be used to vote in store until the end of the September.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing - Help available from school

if you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child who attends Parkside Primary or require any additional support or advice with regards to attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding & Attendance Officer. If you have any question or worries about your child’s behaviour or require any additional family support then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Daine, our Behaviour & Family Support Worker. Both members of staff are also available for children to talk to should they have any worries.

If you have any Safeguarding concerns outside of school hours, or are concerned a child has suffered or is likely to suffer significant harm and is at immediate risk call the Children’s Safeguarding Hub on (01482) 395500 or ring 999 (asking for the Police).
