Meeting our future workforce

KMS Staff at the West Kimberley Careers Expo 2024

We recently attended the annual West Kimberley Careers Expo held in Broome. The expo was attended by over 1,000 students from local schools, TAFE and other training providers as well as the general public.

It was fantastic to be able to talk to some of our potential future employees about career opportunities in mineral sands mining with Kimberley Mineral Sands at Thunderbird.

There was a great vibe at the expo and it is encouraging to see that we have a bright future workforce in the West Kimberley!

First ilmenite shipment

Following on from our first bulk zircon exports last month, 22,000 tonnes of ilmenite has now set sail from Broome on board the Yu Long Ling. The shipment is destined for our Joint Venture partners Yansteel and is the first product they will receive since their investment in the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project.

National Road Safety Week

National Road Safety Week is taking place from 5 to 11 May and is an annual event to raise awareness of driving safely on our roads.

Our logistics contractor Campbell Transport is currently running seven PBS 60m road trains between Thunderbird and Broome, so in collaboration with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, we're launching the Kimberley version of the Don't Muck with a Truck safety campaign this Road Safety Week.

The campaign encourages people to interact safely both out on the highway and in town with some key tips to remember when driving around road trains.

Keep an eye out for the ads and safety tips on our socials, website and local radio, starting on Monday 6 May.
