head lice

A number of children in our school currently have head lice. We request that all families please check and treat their children’s hair before returning to school. To help minimise the spread of head lice all boys and girls are recommended to wear their hair tied firmly back every day.

school supplies

Many Students current stationery supplies are running low, especially glue sticks, lead pencils and whiteboard markers. Please check with your child if their stationery needs topping up for next term. Thank you.

todd woodbridge cup - stage 3

Newrybar’s Stage 3 Tennis Team absolutely smashed it at the recent Todd Woodbridge Cup held at Murwillumbah Tennis Courts. After winning their pool, Newrybar advanced to the sudden death semi-finals. They won this match, becoming Zone Champions and securing their place in the Regional grand final against Our Holy Family. After a hard fought match, Newrybar were narrowly defeated. The students should be very proud of their efforts throughout the day, being the only small school represented and attracting compliments from other teachers on their behaviour and sportsmanship. Thank you to Asher Packman and Mrs Leeson for providing transport for the team.

4-6 Zentveld's Excursion

The senior glass enjoyed a visit to our local Zentveld’s Coffee Farm and Roastery. The owners took us on a farm tour and shared how they produce sustainably grown coffee using regenerative farming practices. We were also treated to a hot chocolate!

STEM DAY

Last week students from the VoSS enjoyed the annual STEM Day. Stage 2 students enjoyed rotating through activites at Newrybar PS, while Stage 3 students travelled to Main Arm PS.

2-3 creative art

We were excited to finish making our Ugly Dolls. We also investigated geodes and how they take thousands of years to form. We used a mix of mediums: coloured paper, liquid watercolours, glitter, markers and paint to create our own geode designs.

k-1 maths

We had fun learning about symmetry. Using half of our faces as a reference, we drew the missing half, focusing on accurate proportions and mirror-image details.

4-6 inquiry

The senior class have continued to investigate how technology can help us to solve problems. We have been researching barcodes, QR codes and pixels. We have also been learning about algorithms and the importance of making sure the steps are precise. We took on a human robot challenge where one student (programmer) gave instructions to the “robot” to complete a task.

design and technology

Holly proudly completed sewing her summer pyjama's this week - well done! They look fantastic!

PSSA State Golf championships

Dante has been having fun at the PSSA State Golf Championships. 15 hours drive south, on the border with Victoria, he has played 2 beautiful courses - Cobram Barooga and Tocumwal. Dante is part of the North Coast team. We will find out all about the competition next term. We are all so proud of Dante!
