Monkton Park Newsletter Friday 9th February 2024

End of term

Today was the final day of term 3, we hope you have a lovely break from school and we will welcome you back on Monday 19th February. We had a lovely finish to the term today and the children have had a fantastic (and slightly muddy) day spent outside. They have explored, made bird feeders and houses, done orienteering, toasted pancakes, made faces and hearts and much much more!

Outdoor PE Kit

Please can all pupils bring in their outdoor PE kit for after half term and make sure it can stay in school for all PE lessons.

Badgers and Pine Martens - Library Trip

Badgers and PM had fun listening to Tracy tell silly stories and share her latest recommendations. The children were so inspired to read some of the latest books that some came away with 4 books! A reminder that the children can have their library books for 3 weeks before they need to return.

Maizie - I always love it when Tracy reads silly stories and puts on brilliant voices because it brings the books to life and gives the characters, well, character.

Tracy also shared information on The Booksters, a book club for readers in year 5 and 6. Please see the poster below for further information.

Dance Festival

We cannot be prouder of the year 6 pupils who performed in this year's dance festival on Monday night. They performed to a sellout Neeld Hall and all did so with such energy, enthusiasm and with such large smiles on their faces. An extra shout out to our amazing comperes Quique and Annabella who opened the festival on its opening night!

The whole experience was really fun because you get to see other people perform and you get to perform in front of an actual audience! - Nefeli

FOMPS

FOMPS

Dear Amazing Parents,

FOMPS is our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA): the heartbeat of our school community. Together, we make magic happen – from supporting educational initiatives to creating unforgettable memories for our kids. Now, it’s time to put our thinking caps on and brainstorm some fantastic fundraising events for 2024! Every pound we raise directly benefits our children’s education and experiences. Collaborating on fun events strengthens our bonds as a school family.

Which kinds of events would your family and friends attend? Do you have a unique idea? A quirky twist on a classic event? A passion project waiting to bloom?

Please email your fundraising ideas to fompspta@gmail.com by the 18th February - that's by the end of the half-term holiday.

What's On?

Remember to donate to FOMPS by doing your online shopping through The Giving Machine

Follow FOMPS on Facebook for information and reminders on events.

Pick up and play

If you have never played a musical instrument before, but fancy giving it a go, why not come along to Wiltshire Young Musicians' Pick Up and Play groups? You can choose to learn either a trumpet, trombone or horn (Brass) or what about a violin, cello or double bass (Strings). With WYM’s Pick Up and Play workshops, you don’t even need an instrument as one will be provided for you.
