ABOUT TAIJI FENCING

TAIJI FENCING is a whole new take on classical sword-dueling sports. Based on the idea of never getting injured, the swordsmen (of all genders) strive to avoid getting touched by the opponent's weapon, while placing the importance of attack secondary to one's safety.

Because of this goal, this sport lends itself to the classical arts of taijijian & tai chi swordsmanship. Focusing on establishing harmony with the opponent's movement, the fencers push and redirect one another's swords in attempts of finding an opening, while keeping all paths closed to the opponent's attacks.

This sport can be performed at all levels of intensity. Some events focus more of staying slow and harmonious, while other's are a closer proximation to real life combat speeds. Because of this, everyone that has ever practiced Tai Chi or Kung Fu swordsmanship should have an excellent foundation to work from.

Taiji Fencing is organized by the Taiji Fencing League. The League works to train instructors to run clubs and events, while offering a variety of retreats, tournaments, and training opportunities to the community. The League focuses on holding our annual tournaments and retreats, going into 2025.

Taij Fencing Clubs can be established by any tai chi or kung fu instructor. Once taking one of our club introductory programs, you will be ready to host your own events and begin holding your own taiji fencing oriented sword classes.

Of course, our main events are open to the public, but having a club or team is a guaranteed way of having a spot at all Taiji Fencing League events in the community.
