Week 1 - term 2b

Year 5 were straight back into the swing of things this week after half term.

We continued our work on forces.

We looked at how much force it takes to lift a weight depending where the fulcrum is on the seesaw. A fulcrum is the pivot point or support about which a lever turns.

We kept the weight the same throughout the investigation but changed the point where the fulcrum was.

We found that the closer the fulcrum was to the weight, the easier it was to lift the weight.

We used Newton weights, a length of thing wood and a glue stick as a fulcrum.

We also welcomed NUFC Foundation into school, this half term we shall be taking part in a number of STEAM workshops.

This week, we looked at how technology has changed over time.

We worked in pairs to discuss what we thought the tech did. Some of the class were surprised at how munch technology has advanced.

We also welcomed the Scholastic book fair into school as last of this years World Book Day celebrations.

Families were invited into school to take part in a book breakfast. It was a lovely opportunity for parents to spend time with their children reading and enjoy a sausage sandwich!

Children of all age groups got to join in and enjoy the morning.

The book fair was a big success too, we sold lots of books and stationary which means we can buy new books for the school library.
