After last week's uncertainty and disruption around the weather, I am very grateful that despite the chilly conditions, we have managed a full week!
I sent out our Ofsted Report to you all this week. This shall appear on the official Ofsted website within 5 days. I must thank you as families for your incredible support each and every day and especially in the responses to the Ofsted Parent View; this meant a lot to all of us!
I thank our staff, Governors and whole community for their hard work and most importantly for the care, love and support they show for our children.
I am very proud of the efforts of all and to be in the privileged position as Headteacher of our lovely school. After reading our report several times, it is abundantly clear that as a school we have many strengths. Most importantly, I congratulate our amazing children for their superb behaviour and wonderful personalities that make coming to Birkwood so special! To see this being recognised is of huge credit to each and every one of them.
I know that we want our children to be safe at all times. I must issue a reminder regarding parking on the yellow lines outside school. We are still having too many near misses because people are parking in an inconsiderate way that isn’t 100% kind or 100% respectful. Our school was built in 1957 with far less children than we have now and also with many less cars transporting them to school. Please help us all in keeping everybody safe.
As a Primary School, we are always susceptible to visits from headlice. Please check your children’s hair for any little visitors. I thank you for your help and understanding.
Well done to Team Earth for their winning of the House Competition. They had a great afternoon so thanks to Mr. Davis & Miss Taylor for their organisation of a well-deserved treat.
It has been our Attendance Party too – a great effort from everyone invited. We love to see top attendance at Birkwood!
Tickets for the February disco go on sale from Monday 20th January. The disco will be taking place on Thursday 13th February - 4.30pm to 6pm. Tickets are £3 each and include a bag of crisps and a drink. Please place the money in a sealed envelope, with your child's name on the front, and hand to their class teacher.
