Battleship or Cruise Ship? A Spiritual Application

The cruise ship is designed, from bow to stern and from the engine room to the captain’s bridge, for passenger bliss and creature comfort. The battleship is designed, from bow to stern and from the engine room to the captain’s bridge, to project the power of the nation and to defeat and destroy our enemies. The question is…“in a spiritual sense which one do you desire to sail on…are you a passenger or a warrior?”

The cruise ship takes “passengers” on a vacation into fantasy land for enjoyment and pleasure. Whereas, the battleship takes warriors on a mission into harm’s way to demolish enemy strongholds and protect that which we love and cherish.

The cruise ship’s armament consists of: None

The cruise ship’s armor consists of: None

The battleship’s armament consists of: 9 x 16” (406mm) main gun battery. These guns can accurately hit a target 33 miles away with a 2000 lb. high explosive shell; 20 x 5” (127mm) secondary gun battery; 8 quad cell launchers x 109 Tomahawk Cruise missiles; 4 quad cell launchers x 84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles; 4 Phalanx 20mm radar guided cannon.

The battleship’s armor consists of: 12.1 inch thick (class “A” steel) belt along the waterline; 11.7 inch thick bulkheads; 19.7 inch thick gun turrets; 7.5 inch thick decks.

So the battleship was not made for “Club Med Member Cruises”. Rather the battleship was made for war, to survive intense battles, and to protect other ships engaged in combat against a common enemy. Demolishing enemy strongholds became the calling card for these floating fortresses. Over its storied life, 1940-1991, the battleship New Jersey, BB-62, became the highest decorated ship in the history of the United States Navy.

As members of the Faith Assembly Battleship crew we can all increase our “spiritual combat effectiveness” (SCE) with increased identification with the battleship model and less with the “Love Boat” model.

We have each been given: the opportunity to serve the God of Angel Armies; to serve with a battle ready captain and staff; each other to crew with and to carry the fight to the enemy; the finest of enemy discernment/detection radar; mighty weaponry to demolish enemy strongholds, even the angelic host; and armor that is non-penetrable by the enemy’s best weaponry. Now this is the type of mission we are created for…to set sail into our destiny!
