Welcome to Forsyth Virtual Elementary We're glad you're here!

Important Dates

Courses begin on Tuesday , August 5th and our calendar coincides with the Forsyth County Schools' 2025-2026 approved school calendar.

While the learning is remote, students are expected to come into the building for universal screening and state standardized testing. FVE is also excited to offer fun in-person opportunities for students throughout the year.

Be on the lookout for emails throughout the year with events and important dates for our students.

Let's get you set up

What do you need to be successful?

To be successful in online courses, students must have access to a capable device (computer) and a stable internet connection. Students must also have a webcam and microphone.

*While course content can be accessed via phone/tablet, FVA recommends a Chromebook or PC/Mac to ensure students can fully access, create and share in the virtual learning environment.

It is not required but helpful to have access to a scanner/printer!

Assignments are given every day on the class's daily page. Each day’s work builds upon the previous day’s learning and students need to keep up-to-date to maximize learning opportunities.

What does my day look like?

The general daily hours for our students will be from 8:30-3:00, M-F. During this time period, students will have multiple live sessions (attendance required), teacher check-ins, asynchronous (non-live) content, and small group meetings.

These schedules will vary based on grade and content, but will be communicated by your student's teacher. Students can expect to end all live sessions between 2:00-2:30.

Students should begin logging into the computer to look over the daily assignments and check over the day's learning page no later than 8:15. Students are expected to attend all live sessions, conferences, and small group meetings each school day.

"The Classroom" - While the learner is still in the home environment, it is important to set up a dedicated space for learning to help put the learner in the mindset of being in school. This includes a space that is free from distractions (TV, toys, siblings, etc.) It should include access to a computer or laptop, quiet surroundings, a desk, chair, and a clock.

Supplies - Just like in a regular classroom, it is important to also have easy access to regular school supplies in a classroom. Supplies include pencil, paper, notebooks, and any other supplies the teacher has requested.

Technology - While technology comes in a variety of shapes and forms, the best environments provide a laptop or desktop computer that is dedicated to school. This device should be logged into the learner's Forsyth Google Account and should not have any other accounts on it. Learners should also have access to reliable fast internet, microphone, camera, and headphones. While it is not required, having access to a scanner and printer will help throughout the day as well.

Learning Coach - Because the teacher and the learner are not in the same setting together throughout the day, the Learning Coach plays one of the most critical roles to a successful virtual experience. The Learning Coach should be available to the learner at all times during the school day to help organize the day, make sure the learner understands the directions, and review over feedback together.

A Great Attitude - Finally, a great attitude and active participation is important to maintain throughout the day. This helps keep the learner engaged and understanding when any technical issues may occur. It is important to build relationships with the teacher to create and maintain a positive learning environment.

Attendance!

Students are expected to log into each live session with the camera on. Cameras should remain on from the beginning to the end of the live session and students should be ready to participate throughout the live session.

Attendance will be taken for all three live sessions throughout the day.

In order for a student to be considered present, they should remain an active participant from the beginning to the end of each live session with the camera on.

Nonparticipation will be marked as an absence.

Any excused absences should be communicated prior to the live session. Students will have 1 day to make up assignments for every absent day.
