Far North Coast Dance Festival
All the very best to our students who will be performing at Twin Towns this Tuesday evening 3 June 2025. Many thanks to Mrs White for their work with our dancers, and to our own Ms Levi for her coordination of the entire event.
WAVE Reports
These will be available to all parents via our Sentral portal from this Friday 6 June 2025. A reminder that WAVE reports provide a snapshot of learning behaviours being demonstrated by students in each class and should inform discussions of half yearly academic reports as they become available.
Pinnacle Classes 2026
Next Wednesday on 11 June from 6:00pm applicants for the 2026 Year 7 Pinnacle classes will sit a formal assessment in our MPU, with interviews to follow on Thursday and Friday. Any questions regarding these important steps in our Pinnacle student selection process should be directed to Mrs O’Keeffe, our Pinnacle Program coordinator.
E Bikes
Advice we have received from Transport NSW and NSW Police has been emailed to all parents, posted on our Facebook and appears also in this edition of KingySpirit. Given the amount of unsafe behaviour we have experienced with students riding E bikes, if families deem it appropriate for their son or daughter to use this mode of transport, they should ensure, as a minimum, that helmets are worn at all times and that speeds do not exceed 25 km/hr, as per advice received.
Wishing all of our school community a safe and productive week, with the King’s Birthday long weekend on the horizon.
GENERAL NEWS
On Tuesday 20 May 2025, a talented group of students from Kingscliff High School's Inclusive Education Unit proudly represented our school at the inaugural 2025 Boccia Tournament held at Ballina Coast High School. Competing against 11 high schools from the Northern Rivers District, our students demonstrated exceptional focus, skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Myls Davidson, Elynore Wright, Lucas Goward, Izacc Morton, and Zave Gee showcased their abilities and secured an impressive 5th position overall, with their best performance coming in a playoff match where they achieved a remarkable 7-1 victory. Both Myls Davidson and Izacc Morton scoring a hard earned bonus point in separate games.
We commend these students for their outstanding participation and representation of Kingscliff High School. A special mention goes to Miss Lou (SLSO) for her swift adaptation to the refereeing role and meticulous scoring. Her 'can do' attitude makes her an invaluable asset to the IE Unit.
Congratulations to all involved!
Inclusive Education Pasta Making Experience
On Monday 26 May 2025, students from the Inclusive Education Unit studying Italian were given an exciting opportunity to immerse themselves in Italian culture through the ancient art of pasta making. The event took place at The Nook, an authentic Italian café located in Hastings Point.
The café's owner, Luca, brought along his Nonna to demonstrate the traditional methods of preparing dough and crafting pasta. Each student participated hands-on in the pasta-making process, learning valuable skills and techniques.
Luca and his family provided a delightful dining experience, serving freshly squeezed juice, garlic bread, and a traditional spinach and ricotta dish. The highlight of the meal was the students' very own fresh pasta served with a rich Bolognese sauce.
Throughout the day, students practiced their Italian language skills by engaging in conversations with Nonna and Luca, making the experience both educational and memorable. This immersive experience not only enriched their understanding of Italian culture but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among the students.
The Nook Italian Cafe is located at 87-89 Tweed Coast Road, Hastings Point. Operating hrs are 8:30am -2:30 pm (except Mondays).
