Beyond Graduation: Planning for Your Future

Preparing for college or trade school can seem overwhelming. That is why Genesee ISD along with Genesee County Career and College Access Network (GCCCAN) created a College Planning Guide and timeline. The guide provides information and resources students will need to guide them step by step through the process of preparing to attend college or trade school after high school graduation.

New FAFSA to Unlock Scholarship Opportunities

A new version of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as the FAFSA, will open scholarship and grant opportunities for more Michigan students and make it easier for them to apply. Some of the changes made include expanding eligibility on the FAFSA form which makes it easier to import financial information.

With new changes, it takes most applicants less than an hour to complete the FAFSA and learn if they're eligible for scholarships such as the Michigan Achievement Scholarship.

To get started, students should visit the FAFSA website.

Helping Students with Career Readiness

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) Genesee Opportunity (GO) team has been working with local districts and public school academies to promote Career Readiness throughout grades K-12. A fan favorite for fall 2023/2024 was the Future You - Vision Board Lesson, as it allows students to work hands-on to explore their interests, skills, and future dreams.

Coming this Spring!

The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is excited to once again host the countywide Spelling Bees! All Bees will be held at the Erwin L. Davis Education Center - Legacy Auditorium, and all participants will enter through door #3. Follow the link for dates, times and grades schedule.

Partnering for Student Mental Health

The Genesee Intermediate School District in collaboration with Genesee Health System and local area school districts is hosting a Mental Health Symposium on March 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Genesee Career Institute.

The symposium is an opportunity for school staff to acquire valuable knowledge that focuses on mental health support systems for students and families in Genesee County.
