Amazing Things

In RE we explored different types of questions, such as little questions, medium sized questions and big questions. The children worked in groups and compared different types of questions and chatted together to decide where each one belonged. It was lovely to see them thinking deeply and working as a team. We talked about how Religion and Worldview lessons help us explore big questions by learning about different beliefs and sharing ideas.

The children then did a great job coming up with their own questions. Working in pairs they shared their questions with the whole class, and it sparked some brilliant conversations.

We then began thinking about thankfulness and the children thought carefully about times they’ve felt thankful and they shared some lovely examples of how they show gratitude everyday. We also looked at harvest celebrations around the world. The children learned that while harvest happens at different times depending on the climate, people everywhere celebrate it in unique ways. We talked about how some people thank God during harvest, while others, like Humanists, show appreciation for food and those who help produce it.

We had another lovely session at Gibside this week. Due to the high winds, we stayed out of the woodland area and headed to the park instead. The children had a brilliant time testing their physical abilities on the equipment, climbing, balancing, and challenging themselves in new ways. One of the highlights was spotting hundreds of ladybirds, there were so many, and the children were amazed at how many they could gently handle.

Forest School continues to be one of the highlights of our week, and we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to take our learning outdoors. 🌳🐞
