What a lovely half term we have had at Saltney Ferry. It has been wonderful to get to know your children. I spent time this week listening to learners. The pupils spoke confidently about their work and shared their work books with me. Thank you to all the staff for giving the children such great opportunities in school everyday.
Thanks also to the Criw Cymraeg who came to speak to Governors this week about their role in school. I look forward to seeing you all after the half term break, hopefully the rain will hold off this next week! L. Williams
A lovely last week of term in Dosbarth Alwen. Celebrating Valentine's Day with love potions, flower collages, making cards and paint printing glitter hearts✨ We've investigated in science on what makes ice melt & what happens to the ice once it's melted with a hands on experiment. In language, reception have sequenced our class story by creating simple story maps to display the beginning, middle and end of "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers🐧🛶. Have a lovely half term everybody.
This week in dospath Padarn we have been learning about capacity of how full and empty containers are. We had great fun playing in the water.
We have been writing and retelling the story of ‘Peace at last’. We can now retell the story with actions and have enjoyed coming up with the parts of the story. After learning about weight and capacity we made our own biscuits, we had to weigh all the ingredients and decided if the bowl was full or empty. We hope you enjoy your valentines biscuits if your little ones haven’t already eaten them 😄.
This week, Dosbarth Tegid have enjoyed a wonderful range of engaging activities across the curriculum. Children created mud paintings inspired by Celtic woad designs. This hands-on experience allowed them to connect with nature while learning about historical Celtic patterns and symbols. In Mathematics, we have been focusing on time. The children have been exploring duration, calculating how long events last, and working out end times using their knowledge of start times. They have shown great progress in applying their understanding to a variety of problem-solving activities. In LLC, we have been learning about similes and how they can make our writing more imaginative and descriptive. The children enjoyed identifying and creating their own similes about the celts. They have also been developing their instructional writing skills by writing clear and detailed instructions. To end the week on a delicious note, we baked Valentine’s cookies! The children carefully followed their instructions, measured ingredients accurately, and worked collaboratively — and of course enjoyed tasting their wonderful creations. A fantastic week of learning, creativity, and teamwork in Dosbarth Tegid!
Dosbarth Brenig have rounded off the half term on Celts with their writing skills shining through! We have spent the half term exploring our writing skills in diary formats for our Celtic warriors Boudicca and Beli Mawr.
Diolch i pawb for joining us this morning. Great to share our learning with you and explore our outdoors. We'll be doing another session next half term and our pupils will plan a forest feast menu for you!
Dosbarth Gwynant have had a lovely last week of the half term! We have been busy finishing off work to round off our topic about Y Wladfa. We have compiled more work into our journals and this has been made into a lovely display in our classroom! We have worked as a team to build a giant model of the settlement in Patagonia, using our knowledge of 3D shapes and nets. We enjoyed being creative and discussing which shapes would be used for which essential buildings! On Friday we were so excited to enjoy a PJ and movie day as we achieved our goal of 1000 dojos! A very cosy and well-earned treat, da iawn pawb😊

Plenty of eggs for sale, don't get a flap over getting to the shops. Our eggs have a cracking reputation. No need to scratch around for money at just £2. No yolk!
Great job from our Criw Cymraeg this week as they presented to our governors on how Welsh is used across school. They spoke superbly on all the strategies we use, resources available and fun we have speaking Welsh. Diolch o galon to Mrs Mitchell-Jones for all her work in developing Cymraeg across our school. Onto the next award!
