The City Council's Annual Strategic Planning Session is on Friday, January 19 at 8:30 A.M. at the City Council Chambers.

The Next Regular Meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, January 23 at 5:00 P.M.
The "Tentative Agenda" is strictly tentative and there is no guarantee that items listed will be agendized as scheduled due to changing priorities, new information, staff workloads, and other unforeseeable events.
Mayor Kempf Previews Tomorrow's Strategic Planning Session
In today's podcast, Mayor Kempf previews tomorrow's City Council Strategic Planning Session starting tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at the Laguna Beach Council Chambers (505 Forest Ave). Mayor Kempf also encourages residents to apply for City Council Appointed Committees by tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
Last Chance to Apply for City Council Appointed Committees is Tomorrow
The City Council is accepting applications for the following Committees and Boards: Design Review Board, Environmental Sustainability Committee, Heritage Committee, Parking, Traffic, & Circulation Committee, Recreation Committee, and View Restoration Committee.
Interviews and appointments will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., by the City Council. All applicants may be interviewed. Applicants may be contacted by City Council members prior to the interviews and appointments, so please be prepared to make a brief statement about your desire to serve.
Laguna Beach residents who are interested in serving on one of these Committees, Commissions, or Boards should obtain an application from the City Clerk’s office or online from the City’s website, and file by Friday, January 19, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. Questions may be directed to the City Clerk’s office at (949) 497-0705. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.

Applications Now Open for Mills Act Program
The Mills Act Program is a self-directed, economic incentive program for owners of locally designated historic registered properties. A Mills Act Contract is a 10-year contract between the owner of a City-designated landmark property and the City of Laguna Beach.
The purpose of a Mills Act Contract is to provide property tax relief for an owner in return for the long-term maintenance and preservation of the property’s historic features and character. In order for your property to be considered for a Mills Act contract under the current program, it must be a designated City of Laguna Beach Historic Registered property and satisfy the Mills Act program requirements.

Apply Now for Community Assistance Grants
The City of Laguna Beach makes Community Assistance Grants available to local non-profit organizations that provide special services to residents of Laguna Beach. The Community Assistance Grant Application period is open from January 8, 2024 through March 21, 2024.
The objective of this program is to assist local organizations in funding new projects or expanded services within the community. Grant awards are decided by the City Council.
Submit Your Design in the 2024 Banner Competition
The Laguna Beach Arts Commission invites you to submit your design in the 2024 Banner Competition! Prospective designs and application materials must be delivered by March 4, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. to the Cultural Arts Department at City Hall (505 Forest Ave).
Completed banners will be displayed on lampposts throughout the City during the summer. $4,000 will be awarded for all completed banners selected.
