Project Description:
Mickey Dunn Stadium’s redevelopment transforms Kennesaw State University baseball, with increased capacity, enhanced amenities, and a dramatically elevated experience for fans and athletes. The stadium includes a new three-level, 1,500-person facility stretching from first to third base. The upgraded seating bowl features 320 premium chairback seats, ADA seating, bench seating and ledge counters. Fans access the bowl from an elevated, open concourse that provides clear views of the field and scenic outlooks toward KSU’s campus and Kennesaw Mountain. New restrooms and concessions support the expanded crowd capacity. On the field, the surface was regraded and replaced with synthetic turf, showcasing one of the largest field logos in the world. The backstop was moved nearly 15 feet to meet NCAA standards, and new recessed dugouts, twice as large as before, now include dedicated restrooms. Player-focused upgrades include covered hitting stalls and a team lounge beneath the concourse. The 4,000-square-foot third level introduces premium amenities, such as an 80‑person multipurpose club and suite, and expanded media and game‑operations spaces. Site improvements include a Hall of Fame entry plaza, upgraded ticketing, new gates, berm seating, improved bullpens and plans for a future fan zone. Despite tight site constraints, a vertical, three‑level design allowed the stadium to expand while maintaining the existing field location, creating a striking new campus landmark. Thoughtful design and strategic site planning position KSU baseball for long‑term success, establishing Mickey Dunn Stadium as a destination facility ready for conference and NCAA postseason play.
