This is my study of an Opal apple. My general goal was to familiarize myself with the program and try to mimic my reference image to the best of my ability. I believe I could have done better with the shading, but it did help me with learning about color and texture. I hope this comes off as a real apple one could see in real life.
This is my Nuclear Apple piece that helped me study backgrounds and lighting. I decided to take a bit of a humorous approach with this to hopefully get a chuckle out of my audience and help loosen up a little. The lighting and blurring effects could use some work, but otherwise, I am pretty satisfied with this rather absurd piece.
This is my Patterned Kate Bush piece that aimed to explore creating and piecing together patterns to make a larger picture. Kate Bush has an exquisite voice and with this take on one of her album covers, I hoped to show the soft, serene, and poetic nature of her songs through the use of patterns from the eighties. I believe the use of color editing and After Effects helped to unify and complete this piece and I hope it does her sense of tranquility justice.
Here is my Coral Jellyfish piece. It was an excellent exercise on line weight and frequency, showing that you don't need to use darker colors to create a sense of shading. I personally love jellyfish and the bright reds and corals of this piece help it stand out from the deep, ocean-blue background. I hope that this piece shows the life that can exist in what seems like an empty blue and can be found anywhere.
