Message from our Principal

2026 Student Leadership Team

As we come into the last three weeks of term, it is time to celebrate a number of milestones. The first of these is the election of our 2026 School Captains. It takes a great deal of courage to put yourself forward for any sort of leadership position and we had a number of excellent school leaders deliver their speeches for their peers before the election. Some of the key values that our student leaders spoke about were listening deeply to the ideas and opinions of others; not always being the loudest voice in the room; unity; belonging; hard work; volunteering and activism. Their optimism and determination put our school in a great place to move forward into 2026.

Congratulations to Lucas Johnson, Scarlett Clifford and Lucy Wraight who have been elected as our Senior SRC representatives, Juliette Adlard and James Muddle our School Vice Captains and Harriet Killips and Elia Klugman, our 2026 School Captains.

Congratulations to James, Elia, Harriet and Juliette
Drama Production

Last week saw the culmination of many hours of rehearsal, planning and development with the Year 11 Drama production of The Life of the Insects. For those of you who were able to attend, you would know what an excellent production it was. Congratulations to our creative and talented cast and crew and a very big thank you to Marissa McEwan, our wonderful Drama teacher who guided our students to help realise their creative vision.

Congratulations to the cast and the production team.

CAPA Showcase on Wednesday 10 September

This week will see our visual arts and music students’ talents on show at the CAPA Showcase on Wednesday Evening. Our 2026 Year 7 students from our partner primary schools will be joining us for a sneak peek earlier on Wednesday afternoon.

Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG)

On Friday last week, I joined Chloe Power and Adam Culbert from our Aboriginal Education Team to participate with our local and regional Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and others from as far south as Coffs Harbour and west to Kyogle and Casino to workshop the Partnership agreement between the Department of Education and the NSW AECG. This version of the partnership agreement is at its halfway point and there is currently a review taking place across the state.

There were some deep conversations, learnings and listening in that room in Grafton. There is also a recognition that as a community and as a department there is still room for growth and improvement in the way we ensure our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students and all students engage with Aboriginal cultures and histories. Our local Tweed-Wollumbin AECG meets once a term. The next meeting will be at Tweed River High School, from 4pm to 6pm on Monday 20th October. All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community members are encouraged to come along and have their voice heard.
