It's been a chilly one in Lower School this week, especially with Nursery and Reception classes making things icy cold with some snowy fun!
Nursery have been in a Winter Wonderland, making igloos out of different construction materials. They explored snow dough, mixing together shaving foam and corn flour to sculpt different objects. They then added lots of water to it... resulting in a fun messy play opportunity!
Reception have been writing about what Winter means to them. They read the story of 'penguin small' and thought how lonely he must have been without his friends. They have made ice and ice paint, making icy pictures. They have used 2D shapes to make different winter themed objects and changed their role play area into a Winter Wonderland.
Year 1 have been learning the Cardiff tale of 'Billy the seal'. They listened to the story carefully, sequenced the story using pictures and talked about Victoria Park where Billy lived. They learnt a song about Billy the Seal and went over to the music department to sing their song using instruments and trying to keep a beat. They have been working hard on their mathematical skills and practising adding this week.
