UDIS NEWSLETTER ISSUE #11

Preschool/K1: Inquirers - Learners were super curious and interested as they observed caterpillars creating their cocoons. They cared for them as pets while inquiring about how they lived and asked questions about how we could help them.
Y1: Reading with Year 7/8 In a fantastic collaborative effort, students from Year 7 and 8 visited our classroom to share their pop-up books, which they created in Ms. Diana's class. The experience was both educational and memorable for everyone involved. The Year 1 students gave positive feedback, expressing their admiration for the craftsmanship of the books and the heartfelt stories within. The main message about overcoming fear was particularly inspiring for them.
Y3: Journey of plastic - Last week, Year 3 started their unit into “Sharing the planet” and we have been talking about the journey of plastic, making posters to share our ideas with everyone who walked by the classroom’s board, and learning about plants. We found that underneath the soil, roots are connected for many different benefits.
Y5: Science experiments : Our Year 5 class had an opportunity to conduct an experiment in the science lab. We tried different methods of separating solutions and mixtures. With some of the solutions we used heat and other mixtures we used filter paper. It took a long time but we were able to recover our original sands and salts.
Thai: Learning about agriculture - In Year 5/6 Thai class the students have been learning about agricultural products: names of vegetables, names of fruits and local products. As part of this theme the students have been discussing and exploring the different markets where fruits and vegetables can be found.
