Dear parents/carers and Baylis Court pupils,
As we look towards the last week of this half term, next week, I am pleased to share with you the latest developments and achievements at Baylis Court School. Our pupils continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience and dedication, particularly those engaged in crucial examinations.
Year 11 GCSEs are now in full swing; pupils are navigating the demands of a full examination timetable with admirable composure. It is heartening to observe their confidence as they emerge from each exam, a testament to their commitment and preparation. To our wonderful Year 11 cohort, I urge you to maintain your focus while also prioritising your well-being. Remember the importance of adequate rest, proper nutrition, and regular exercise to sustain your health and performance during this intensive period.
This week marked the start of Year 13 examinations; we wish them all the best of luck during this period. As with the Year 11s, we are confident that they will reap the rewards of their hard work and dedication to their studies that we have proudly observed for the last two years.
Beyond the realm of academics, I am delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our pupils in the borough athletics competitions. Both our Years 7/8 team and our Years 9/10 team demonstrated great skill and sportsmanship, with notable successes in both team and individual events. This accomplishment is a reflection not only of our pupils' talents but also of the dedication of our PE department. I extend my thanks to our PE staff for their efforts in preparing our teams and supporting the athletes.
As we look ahead, I must draw your attention to some important notices. Next week marks the conclusion of this half term. On Friday, pupils will be dismissed from school at the usual time, with the exception of Years 11 and 13. For our examination cohorts, dismissal will follow their respective leavers' assemblies. Details regarding these events have been previously communicated to parents and carers of pupils in these year groups.

Miss Mathews would like to say a huge thank you to the school community for the support they have shown year 11 this week.
In addition, of course we are very proud of all of the year 11 pupils who are doing so well with their GCSEs. We are constantly seeing moments of kindness between yourselves and well done for the support and space you are all offering each other. Keep being kind to yourselves!
Last week some Year 8 students had a STEM trip to Legoland in Windsor. Their behaviour and kindness to others throughout the day was something the staff were very proud of.
“We did a Robotics workshop that enhanced our perspectives on technology. We were shown a model from the 90’s and the latest model. This showed us how much technology has developed in Robotics. We made our own codes using a platform similar to scratch. They gave us Pieces to create a personalised robot and we had fun and experimented. We added sounds, lights and Lego pieces onto our robots. After the workshop we went on the rides. Our favourite was Lego Mythica flight of the sky lion which is Britains first immersive theatre ride. It was very fun an realistic. After the ride we tried to work out how it worked. “

Our pupils truly did us proud at the recent Slough District Athletics Competition hosted at Hillingdon Leisure Complex. They demonstrated incredible effort, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
A special congratulations goes to Mahnoosh (Y10) who secured 3rd place in both the Triple Jump and Hurdles, and to Fatima (Y8) just pipped at the line for a 2nd place finish in the Hurdles. The Year 10 Relay Team also ran brilliantly to take 2nd place, and last but not least Ego (Y8) sprinted her way to an impressive 1st place in the 100m.
Our girls were not only outstanding in their athletic performances but also in their conduct, teamwork, and spirit – representing Baylis with pride. Well done to all involved!
