Lingerie Guide!! What to I wear?

First thing first, everything can be an outfit for boudoir. If you aren't sure what you are going to be comfortable with, feel free to bring any and all the outfits that you are considering. We can sort out what you really want, when you arrive!

Number One Rule

FIND THINGS THAT FIT so you are comfortable for your shoot!

Wardrobe can be one of the things that causes the most stress!

So let's start at the basics:

Color

Since you are coming to my studio, that is a good thing to keep in mind when picking out your outfits and what color they are. My studio leans more towards NEUTRAL and DARK colors vs NEONs and pastels. You could still pull them off but stick to the neutrals and darks colors for Boudoir by Paula

Neutral colors

  • black
  • white
  • tan
  • nude
  • blush

Dark colors

  • burgundy
  • navy
  • emerald
  • plum
  • gray

Shoes

(don't worry we will come back to what kinds of outfits in a minute.)

This might seem like an unimportant step but your calves and butt will look amazing by doing this one step. Heels.

Heels are ideal, but only if you wear heels or want to... We want you to be your most authentic self. Black would be the easiest color to tell you to bring, but if they are your norm have fun with them too.

While heels are ideal, they are not required for your session. We can work around them by tiptoes, etc. and they are not always photographed.

Next, Jewelry

It is not required period.

But if you love your earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc., bring them. We can add them into the session.

The studio also has a few options available to make your session a little more fun.

Outfits

There are a thousand and one options to choose to bring. But in the end, it is up to you what to wear. To name a few options:

  • Bodysuits
  • crop top/bra & undies
  • high waisted undies
  • tight fitting tank tops
  • tight fitting slip dresses
  • shaper slips
  • bralettes
  • kimonos

My advice.

Your session with Boudoir by Paula includes normally 3 outfits. Find about 4-5 options that you are happy with. One or two that you love to pieces. One that is old favorite and one or two outside of your comfort zone. And bring them.

Here are some examples and ideas to help you out on your journey to figure out the dreaded question...

"What do I wear?"

Bodysuits

Bodysuits are my number one favorite outfit choice for everyone who comes to my studio. If you aren't sure what they are, think an one piece swimsuit that is lacy, sometimes see through and sometimes not. There are a TON of different options and a TON of different places to find one.

Bodysuits Examples

Bra & Undies

Bra and Undies is always a good choice. There are so many different varieties you can do on this from a matching set, to a bralette to Calvin Kleins or something like that. Don't forget about the variety of styles of the undies - high waisted, bikini bottom, hipsters, boy shorts, thongs, etc. So many choices!

**Tip - buy the undies one size bigger so you can hike them over your hips. It makes your legs look longer in images. If you like more coverage on the front than the back, flip those bikini bottoms around for your session!

Bra and Undies Examples

Shirts

One thing you might not think about is a shirt. Not just his button up shirt you love, but a tank top, an off the shoulder T-shirt you love or even a crop top. A sweater or sweatshirt would be another good example.

Shirt Examples

Kimonos

Kimonos are a great option! I love them so much. If you are self-conscious about your arms they are another option beyond a sweater. They are kind of like bodysuits and come in all different styles and designs. This also means cardigans.

Kimonos Examples

Implied Nudity

This one is totally up to you to do it. I want you to be comfortable in whatever outfit you want to wear for your shoot. If you are feeling your birthday suit, do it. If not, try the first boudoir session and come back for your second and we can it then.

For implied nudity, we can use a few different things to give off that feeling. We can use a sheet, a blanket, a kimono or something else you can think of. But if you are not comfortable with it, we don't have to.

Implied nudity is normally the last "outfit" of the day to shoot.

Implied Nudity Examples

The Other Outfits

These outfits come up when you start thinking about your hobbies and his hobbies and other unique things you want to include.

  • Cowboy hats
  • Cowboy boots
  • Burlesque outfits
  • Evening gown
  • Leather jacket
  • Handcuffs
  • Whips
  • And more.

These are just some of the examples of items you can bring to make your session more meaningful to you.

And if they aren't something you're not sure about, throw them in your bag and decide later.

There are a ton more outfits that I have not mentioned. Some cause I don't know about them and others cause they aren't my favorite!

Babydolls or nighties are not my absolute favorites due to them not fitting the best for your body. The tighter ones are best for most bodies.

Corsets -- super cute, but again, sometimes not the best look for your body

But if you love it and want to wear it, bring it!

Don't let me influence you if there is something that you absolutely love! If you love it, bring it!

If you are coming to Boudoir by Paula's studio, there are a few more outfit pieces you need to know about.

While I don't have a client closet for you to choose from, I do have pieces that can enhance the pieces you bring.

  • Wings
  • A robe
  • Body Jewelry
  • Crowns
  • Cat, Scream Masks
  • Fun Fabric

If it's not your thing, you don't have to ever use them, but they are there.
