HELA 10 Starbooks
Students in Ms. Tomboli's HELA 10 classes came to the library to kick off their 4th quarter lit circles. Students entered Starbooks and rotated tables for a book tasting to make their selections; they had bookmarks, time to read and take notes, and most importantly, relevant snacks! Each table was fully decked out to match the vibe of each book. Stickers completed the look and the students had way more fun choosing books this way!
Geography Instagram Tour
Students in Mr. Jones' World Geography classes came to the library to work on their South American social media tour. They were given a template to research their chosen destination and complete with what they have learned about the human geography and physical geography, then they used a template from Canva to make it look like it was from their own instagram account.
Sociology Starbooks
Students in sociology classes read children's books to each other and ate snacks while considering what messages each book sent about socialization.
Students enjoyed the nostalgia of books from their childhood and reading some new books.
Some students really enjoyed reading out loud, even doing special voices!, and everyone loved listening to the stories.
High school students, much like children, love snacks and stickers!
Economics Wants and Needs
Mr. Breedlove's Economics students researched and prepared to present the lifestyle project. Students learned about salaries, rent, expenses, insurance, and taxes. After being given a specific scenario, they did research to figure out what someone in their scenario could afford.
Guest Speaker
Students in Ms. Salimbene's Applied Psychology class got to listen to a guest speaker talk about his experience with the criminal justice system and students asked him questions. Students learned about treatment of incarcerated people, mental health, the conditions of facilities, and more.
Fourth Quarter Checkouts
Finally, we had a bunch of ELA classes make it to the library to do some checkouts for the 4th quarter. Students checked out books for Nonfiction projects, independent reading during class, and from our new books!
