Swimming
Thanks to everyone for filling out the information forms for Swimming. We are now working with Northern Arena to create the classes for our two weeks of lessons which occur from Monday 12th May to Thursday 22nd May.
Our students will travel by bus to Northern Arena each day after morning tea and return by lunchtime. Students will be grouped by ability, based on the information provided by parents on the consent form. The first couple of days will allow the swimming teachers to adjust the groups as needed so each student is working at the right level for their capabilities.
More information and reminders will be sent out next week to ensure everyone has the equipment they need for their swimming lessons.
Winter Uniform
As we enter the colder and wetter months of the year, we are happy to tell you that our uniform supplier now has school jackets in stock. Please ensure your child has either a school jumper or jacket to keep them warm during winter.
Hero
Hero is our way of sharing learning with our whānau. Over the term, you should expect to see a learning post from your child's teacher in regards to what their learning looks like in reading, writing and mathematics. These posts are often accompanied by the curriculum goals your child is working on.
These provide invaluable insight into your child's current learning progress in these three core subjects. Our kaiako really appreciate a comment or even just a 'like' to know these posts have been received. It's also a really good thing to look at with your child as a conversation starter for how their learning is going.
Every second week, you will also see a 'class post'. These are an insight into the other curriculum areas, such as science, technology or the arts. If you have any feedback on our posts, please let us know. A reminder that reports will be live at 3pm on Friday 27th June, which are accessed through the 'Nukumea 2025 Report' page on Hero.
Pink Shirt Day
We’re excited to be celebrating Pink Shirt Day in Week 3 at Nukumea School! This special day is all about showing kindness, inclusion, and respect. We encourage all our tamariki to wear pink or red shirts to show their support on Friday 16th May. We are a cashless school, so no donation is needed but if you wish to donate to the cause please do so on the Pink Shirt Day NZ Website.
At Nukumea, this aligns closely with our school value of Manaakitanga. Pink Shirt Day gives us a powerful opportunity to teach our students about inclusion and how to be upstanders, not bystanders. Let’s stand together to spread aroha and kindness! Get those pink outfits ready to stand together!
Have a great week and keep dry!
