February 2024 @BVNLibrary we loved having students in to work on research projects and fun learning. read on to find out more!

Physical Science - Element Research

Physical Science classes came to the library to complete their element research project. They used our Gale: Science in Context database to investigate facts about an element and then create a visually appealing foldable display. Students also chose icons to visually represent information from their foldable using thenounproject.com.

AP Literature - Senior Research

AP Literature and the notetaking fairy!

Continuing in the annual senior research paper, AP Lit students worked on note-taking skills. The note-taking fairy introduced students to the magic of PowerPoint which almost makes a paper that writes itself! Students were pleased with the new use of PowerPoint and learned about the differences of operating in PowerPoint versus Google Slides.

Study Skills

Study Skills students worked on their science interpretation skills by using Slow Reveal Graphs. Students tried to interpret a graph or chart without any information and along the way, practiced taking meaning from a visual representation of data. They got a better understanding of variables and axes and learned about calories in a fast food meal! This was a specific request to help Study Skills teachers prepare their students for the upcoming ACT! Research shows that students score higher on standardized tests if their libraries are fully staffed!

Algebra II - Parabola Project

ELA 11 - Book Spine Poetry

ELA 11 students searched the entire library to find the perfect titles for their Book Spine Poetry project. They did such a good job using their creativity and got to explore different genres throughout the library!

Culinary Arts

Culinary students practiced their measurement and food safety skills through Breakout Edu boxes. They solved the mystery of the deadly milkshake and measurements and conversions to break out and enjoy some sweet treats!
