Hometown Exploring Skaneateles, NY

Skaneateles, New York, is a small town in the Finger Lakes region with a ton of charm. Known for its crystal-clear lake, cozy restaurants, and peaceful trails, it’s where I grew up and where I always feel at home. In this project, I’m sharing my favorite things about it — places that show what makes Skaneateles so special.

Restaurants

The bakery is a cozy neighborhood spot known for its fresh, handmade pastries and warm atmosphere. Each morning, the smell of bread, cookies, and muffins fills the air, drawing in loyal customers. Seasonal specialties and custom cakes add a unique touch to the daily offerings. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or celebrating a special occasion, the bakery has something for everyone.

Vineyards

Anyela’s is one of the prettiest spots to hang out with friends or family, especially on a nice day. You can sit outside with a glass of wine, look out at the lake, and just relax. They’ve got live music sometimes, and the whole place has a super chill vibe. It’s one of those places where time slows down a little.

The Lake

There’s always something fun to do on Skaneateles Lake. Boats can dock right in town, so people often grab food or ice cream before heading back out on the water. On summer days, you’ll find people cliff jumping, tubing, wakeboarding, or anchoring in the cove to hang out with friends. It’s the kind of lake that brings everyone together when the weather’s nice.

Local shops

Skaneateles has some great local shops that are fun to explore. Skaneateles 300 has stylish clothes and accessories. DROOZ & Company is a colorful gift and home store with something for everyone. The Local Branch sells cool, handcrafted leather goods and clothing.

dickens christmas

Dickens Christmas is a holiday festival in Skaneateles where actors dress up as characters from A Christmas Carol. The streets are filled with carolers, horse-drawn carriages, and live performances. It creates a magical, old-fashioned Christmas vibe that draws visitors every year.
