MYTH, MEMORY AND SPACE AT ELEUSIS SPRING 2024 - GRADUATE DESIGN + RESEARCH STUDIO - INSTRUCTOR: JOHN PEPONIS

STUDIO OVERVIEW

A site of about 2.7 Hectares (6.7 acres) between the archaeological site of Eleusis to the north, the city of Eleusis to the east, the sea to the south, and the Titan cement plant to the west, is presently occupied by the remains of an olive oil and soap factory and a spirits factory originally established in 1875. The studio imagines a future archaeological park and cultural centre including a new archaeological museum as well as cultural infrastructure to be administered by the local authority – event spaces, temporary exhibition spaces, workshops, and amenities such as specialized shops, cafes, or restaurants.
