Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered

We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. Swimming Carnival We had a brilliant day at the VoSS Swimming Carnival. Our kids excelled in the pool, having the biggest qualifying team of all the VoSS Schools. We then sent a strong team to the Headlands Carnival in Ballina. Well done to all those students that participated! Cross Country We will be holding our VoSS Cross Country at The Pocket on Thursday 26 March. Notes and all the information will be coming out over the next couple of weeks.

PSSA Sport Basketball Trials The Headlands Basketball tryout took place last week.  Congratulations to TATE for making the team! AFL Trials We are sending four Year 6 students off to trial for the Headlands AFL team this week, we wish them all the best. Tennis Vs Mullumbimby We will be competing in the PSSA Tennis Championships on Monday next week. We will be holding trials today and tomorrow to choose our four players from Year 5 and 6.

Congratulations to our Assembly Award recipients from Term 1 Week 5.

Parent Teacher Interviews We will be holding our Parent Teacher interviews between Monday 23 March and Wednesday 1 April. Information will come out regarding these over the next two weeks. Morning BBQ, Student Leadership and Meet the Teacher Thank you to all those parents that attended this amazing morning. We ate some great food, inducted our student leaders for 2026 and learnt all about what happens in our children's classrooms. And as an added bonus, there was a heap of food left over so our kids got to have seconds at lunch time! Year 5 and 6 Leadership Day Year 5 and 6 head over to Mullumbimby High with the VoSS schools on Friday to participate in the Character Builders Leadership Day. We can't wait to hear all about the leadership skills that they learn from this great event. NAPLAN NAPLAN is fast approaching, with the scheduled assessments being from Wednesday - Friday next week. We will then have two catch up days scheduled for Monday 16 & 17 March. Staffing Rhianon will be on leave this week. Robyn Rowland will be teaching Class 4/5 during this time. Many of our staff are off to Professional Learning Sessions linked to our school plan over the next few weeks so our classes may see some changes to their usual class teachers.

P & C NEWS

As you may have seen in our School Bytes post, the P & C AGM was held a few weeks ago and a new team have been elected. A huge thanks to the team from 2025 for all of their efforts in supporting the school. We will be holding our first event this coming Friday at the Billinudgel Hotel. This is a general get together, and we will squeeze in a little bit of Winter Festival chat. We have booked out the shed so come along with your kids and connect with other parents from 3:30pm. We will have a truck load of hot chips arriving from 4:00pm to feed those hungry bellies! We also have the pub raffles this month. Will Glasson runs these so if you're keen to help our P & C raise some extra money this year, let him know. They start at 4:30pm and run till approximately 6:00pm each Friday in March.

WORLD HEARING DAY - Tuesday, 3 March 2026

Raise awareness about the importance of hearing health and promote early detection and care.  Together, we can support those with hearing loss and create a world where everyone can connect, communicate, and thrive.
