Nukumea Newsletter Term 2, Week 1

Kia ora e te whānau and welcome back to Term 2! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and are refreshed and ready for a fun filled term ahead.

A very special welcome to all our new students and their families. We have a mihi whakatau happening next week to formally welcome them to our community but I know the community will all introduce themselves to you as you are around the school over the upcoming days. New to the school this term are:

Inanga class:

  • Cataleya de Abreu
  • Athena Taito-Jensen

Kōkopu class:

  • Lucius Mulquiney
  • Daniel Rad
  • Valentino De Abreu
  • June Mulholland

Korimako class:

  • Summer Mulquiney
  • Eunice Guylan
  • Zed Guylan
  • Zyk Guylan

Values Art Competition

We want our office space to better reflect our students. So - we are having an art competition to show off their creativity!

Choose one of our school values and draw an A4 picture to show what that value means to you. Entries can be handed into the office before the end of Wednesday May 8th. Winners for each value will then be framed and hung in the office.

Official Opening

Next Friday we are being joined by the Minister of Education, Erica Stanford, to officially open our buildings and plant a Kowhai tree to commemorate the occasion. If you are available to be there on the day, we would love to have you with us for this big occasion. Please RSVP to office@nukumea.school.nz as soon as possible so we can complete our catering and organisation.

Pink Shirt Day is happening on Friday, May 17th. The day is about working together to stop bullying by celebrating diversity and promoting kindness and inclusiveness. This is another great opportunity for Nukumea to reinforce our value of Manaakitanga - showing kindness to one another and learning how to treat others with respect during a conflict or disagreement. This is to ensure our school is a welcoming and caring place for all. Your child is welcome to wear something pink on the day.

It has been great to see everyone happily settling back into routines this week. We hope you all enjoy your week as well.
