I am incredibly fortunate to be a part of the Silvermine Art Center’s community. As a 22-year guild member who has taught at the school for almost as long, I have witnessed a creative spirit that touches many lives. Silvermine is a focus of art in Connecticut and New York while maintaining a national presence as well. I’ve gotten to see world-famous artists who have exhibited in the gallery, fellow artists sharing their craft in the school, and educators who are helping the next generation find a voice of expression and vitality. My art has taken me to many places, and Silvermine is a rare gem.
Painting has been a vital tool for me to understand others and the world in general. Learning to see artistically has enabled me to see symbolically and emotionally. I don’t take it for granted that painting has given me a fulfilling human experience thus far, well beyond the visual arts.
