Women's Ice Hockey Advances to NESCAC Semifinals for Sixth Straight Season
The fourth-seeded Mules opened postseason play with a statement win Saturday, rolling past No. 5 Hamilton in a 6-2 NESCAC Quarterfinal victory at home.
Colby seized control early and never looked back, striking twice in every period to pull away from the Continentals in a dominant performance. Allie Corrieri and Molly Lefebvre (power-play goal) capitalized in the first to put the Mules ahead, and the offense kept rolling in the second with goals from Sophie Melsness and Emily Olsthoorn to build a controlling 4-0 advantage before Hamilton broke through late. Courtney Schumacher added a power-play tally in the third and Sophia Kennedy delivered the final blow on a shorthanded empty-net goal.
Ally Martiniello was sharp between the pipes with 21 saves, while Beth Sinson added two assists. Marion Legge dominated the faceoff dot by winning 15 of her 19 attempts.
Colby Women’s Ice Hockey will head to top-seeded Middlebury Saturday for a conference semifinal rematch. Stay tuned for more details.
Relays Impress at D3 New England Championships
Competing at the Track at New Balance for the D3 NE Championships, Colby's women's team won the 4x200 Relay and had three other appearances in event finals en route to a 9th place finish out of 34 teams. The men's team claimed two podiums and seven event finals appearances to secure 12th place (out of 30 competing squads).
The 4x200 Relay team of Tally Zeller, Kaitlyn Ewald, Charlotte Brake-Hoffman, and Simone Waheed cruised in with a time of 1:39.16 to beat out runners-up Tufts by almost two seconds. 26 institutions entered relay teams, including eight from NESCAC schools.

The men's 4x400 Relay posted a second place finish in 3:15.94, just a tenth of a second behind Springfield's winning squad. Jackson Coelho also reached the podium, claiming bronze in the 400m.

Squash Shines at CSA Team Championships, Men Clinch Highest Ranking in Program History
The Mules traveled to Philadelphia over the weekend to compete in their final competition of the 2025-26 season. The men’s team competed for the Hoehn Cup (13-20 seeds) while the women played in the Kurtz Cup bracket (13-20 seeds).
To begin the tournament on Friday, the men took care of Western University 6-3 to claim a spot in the semifinals on Saturday. In the women’s first match of the tournament they fell to Columbia University 8-1 sending them to the consolation bracket for the remainder of the competition. The team went on to defeat Wesleyan in the consolation semifinals 7-2 and earn a close 5-4 victory over Bowdoin to win the consolation bracket. Abhisheka David had a great performance going 3-0 over the course of the tournament.
Saturday, the men upset Amherst with a 6-3 victory to earn their highest ranking in program history and set themselves up for the Hoehn Cup championship match on Sunday. In the end, the Mules came up just short in a 5-4 thriller with MIT to earn the runner-up trophy. Carlos Zenejas, Hamza Wessam, and Youssef Mostafa playing in the two, three and four positions, all went undefeated over the course of the three matches.
Men’s Squash concludes the 2025-26 campaign with a 10-8 overall record while the Women finish with a 7-9 overall record. Both teams will be back in action next winter.
Rappaport Lands Top-10 at NCAA Diving Regionals
Colby Diver Avery Rappaport went toe-to-toe against the top divers in New England this weekend at the NCAA Regional Championship hosted by Conn. College. The senior narrowly missed a top-10 performance in Friday's 1-Meter Dive but leapt into ninth in the 3-Meter Dive the following Day. Rappaport won the 3-Meter event at the NESCAC Championships two weeks ago.
With the final cuts squared away, Colby excitedly prepares for the NCAA Division III Championships to be held in Indianapolis in just a few weeks. The Mules will have nine athletes competing.
Baseball Opens Season with Sweep of UMF
With potentially its earliest start in history, the Colby Baseball team took to the diamond Saturday for a double header against visiting UMaine-Farmington. The Mules took the opener 14-1 and the nightcap 4-0.
Thomas Rioux took the win in game 1, hurling four shutout innings while allowing one hit and striking out two. Liam Shea-Gallagher went 4-4 at the dish, scoring two runs and knocking in two more.
In game 2, Patrick Shrake and Henry Silva led Colby with two hits apiece. On the mound, Keeler Vogt made a spectacular collegiate debut. The first-year threw five shutout innings while racking up seven strikeouts. He struck out the side in the third and didn't allow a base runner until a UMF batter reached via error in the fourth inning.
The Mules will reload and target another twin bill on Mayflower Hill this coming Saturday when they host Endicott. The Gulls are currently ranked 7th by D3baseball.com.
The Mules Win in Convincing Fashion Over Endicott
Colby Women’s Tennis earned a commanding 7–0 victory over the Gulls on Sunday afternoon at home, sweeping all doubles and singles matches.
In doubles, Amelie Gal and Soumya Wijesekera earned a decisive 6-0 victory at the #2 position. Kendall Skulley and Kat Lowy secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at #3, followed by Isabella Suk and Ella Novion completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory at the #1 spot. The momentum continued into singles play, where Colby dominated across the lineup. Jade Finestone was the first to finish, defeating Endicott's #1 player 6-1, 6-0. Abby Hess in the sixth spot had a dominating showing as well, only losing a single game to her opponent for a 6-0, 6-1 result. Of the remaining four matches combined, the Mules only lost 10 games.
Next, Colby will travel to Hamilton and Amherst this weekend for the first NESCAC matches of the season.
Softball Takes Advantage of Weather, Jumps to 1-0 on Season
Working around ups and downs in the local weather, the Colby Softball team bumped their schedule up a day to open on Saturday against cross-town foe Thomas College. The Mules looked sharp all around and cruised to a 8-0 victory.
Early season pitching proved ready for the Mules as KC DeSarno and Sophia Meade combined for a complete game shutout. Each hurler threw three innings.
Colby collected hits from seven different batters led by Victoria Ramirez and Julianna Kiley with two apiece. The majority of the damage came early for the Mules as they plated two in the bottom of the first off a Kiley single down the line. Colby scored five more in the bottom of the second, highlighted by RBI singles from Ramirez and Kiley.
The Colby Softball team is next scheduled to play March 17 when they host Husson for a double header leading into their spring break trip.
Men's Tennis Sweeps Emerson to Begin 2026
The Mules opened their spring season with a dominant 7-0 sweep of the Emerson Lions Saturday on Mayflower Hill.
In doubles, the Mules only lost three total games including an impressive 6-0 score line for Diego Sosa and Matthew Jeong in the #3 spot. Jason Daly and Bilal Asim won their match 6-2 in the one spot while Antonio Lee and Rhys Spano won 6-1 in the two position. In singles action, Colby stayed on top. Asim, Sosa, Lee, and Jeong all won 6-1, 6-0. To round out the 7-0 final score, Daly took the victory in the one spot 6-3, 6-2 and Spano took care of his opponent 6-1, 6-3 in the four spot.
The Mules will look to take this opening season win momentum into next weekends NESCAC matchups hosting Hamilton Saturday and Amherst Sunday.
Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season Against Fellow Final Four Contender Tufts
The third-ranked Mules opened their 2026 campaign on Saturday with a high-powered matchup hosting the #2 Jumbos. Colby battled hard but fell 16-11 to Tufts in a fast-paced opener between two top-five programs.
The Mules struck first with a man up goal from Joselyn Silva but the Jumbos answered quickly, scoring eight straight to build an early lead. Colby regrouped in the second quarter, scoring four times but Tufts stayed in front with a 11-5 halftime score. Corinne Kapalka added her second and third goals of the contest in the third-quarter, and Colby continued to press in the fourth with four more tallies but Tufts’ firepower proved too much to overcome. First-years Silva and Kapalka led the Mules with three goals apiece in their collegiate debuts while Regan and Michener each added a goal and two assists. Tate Ban finished with a pair of goals as well.
Colby will remain at home this week hosting Williams Saturday for their Cancer Awareness Game.
Mules Face the Best, Take on #1 Tufts to Open Season
Men's Lacrosse opened its 2026 season on the road Saturday against the two-time defending national champion Jumbos who entered the game riding a 28-game win streak. The Mules showed fight throughout the contest but could not contain Tufts, ultimately falling 17-8 in the season opener.
The Jumbos jumped out to an early 6–2 lead at the end of the first quarter with Colby goals scored by Matthew George and Gavin Rothenberg. Thacher McCoy added a goal in the second to bring the Mules total to three but Tufts stayed in front scoring two more of their own before the half. The Jumbos held the lead the rest of the way, outscoring Colby nine to five in the final 30 minutes of play. Rothenberg finished the game with three points (two goals and an assist) followed by Eli Chilicki, who scored his first collegiate goal, and McCoy with two points apiece. Chilicki also led the team with seven ground balls in the contest as Will Heisler contributed 22 saves in net.
Men’s Lacrosse will remain on the road this weekend heading to Williams Saturday followed by a non-conference matchup with Springfield on Sunday.
