morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up

Morning Drop Off Drop off time in the mornings is from 8:30am when a teacher commences morning duty. Students should not be at school before 8:30am. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the top car park near the turning circle. Alternatively you can drop and go at the turning circle. Afternoon Pick Up Pick-up is at 3 pm in the afternoons at the turning circle or where possible we encourage families to use the bus service. If you need to get out of your car, to keep all children safe, please park in the carpark and walk over to the teachers. DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR IN THE TURNING CIRCLE. If you arrive before 3 pm, do not park in the turning circle as this will prevent bus access and cause congestion. The pick-up at the gate and around the turning circle is strictly grab and go. We ask that parents meet inside the fence to keep all children safe. Please do not park and get out of your car in the bus zone near the stairs at drop off or pick up.

parent teacher interviews

Parent/Teacher meetings for English and Maths will be held on Wednesday, 25 March. Bookings can be made on School Bytes. Please indicate if your meeting is to be face to face or by phone. If your meeting is to be by phone, please provide your preferred number. Bookings will open on Monday, 23 February and close on Friday, 13 March. Parents are asked to only book an interview with your child's allocated English and Maths teacher. (See the class groups below.) Please do not book with other teachers. The school is able to change these if a mistake is made. Each interview has a 15-minute timeslot. Be careful not to book the same time for two different teachers. There are two 5/6 maths classes - please check with your child who their maths teacher is. Teachers:

kindergarten information sessions for 2027 students

Do you have a neighbour, friend or family member interested in Kindergarten at Newrybar Public School in 2027? Information sessions will be held on Thursday, 19 March at 12noon and 5:15pm for parents considering placing an application to enrol at Newrybar Public School for Kindergarten 2027. At these meetings, the enrolment process, in zone and out of zone enrolments, orientation activities, how classes at Newrybar are organised, curriculum, starting school for your child, uniforms and other topics will be discussed. If you know someone, please tell them to contact by email newrybar-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or phone 66871343 to register their interest.

excursion or event refunds

Refunds can only be issued for an event or excursion that is paid for on the actual day. Activities are usually booked and paid for by the school in advance. Buses are also prebooked, and the cost per child calculated across the number of students attending. Unfortunately refunds cannot be issued for change of mind or sickness.

Uniforms

Next week your child will bring home a uniform order form. There will be some new items added to the list. Please keep an eye out for it in your child's bag, and return it by the due date.

birthday treats

Some children and families like to share a treat for special occasions, especially birthdays. We are aware that some parents may not allow their children to have a treat containing, sugar, flavours or colours. The treats are usually an icy pole, cup cake or slice of birthday cake. We follow all noted food allergies for children. There is no pressure for everyone to send something for a birthday. If you would like your child to have the food offered on these occasions please complete the permission note on school bytes next week. Teachers will explain parents' decisions to children without permission if the occasion arises. Many schools have ceased having any shared treats for any occasions and we are trying to maintain a slice of Newrybar traditions and at the same time honouring parent wishes. We are not able to pick and choose between treats, parents will either opt in or out, or if this is too difficult to manage a decision to cease shared treats will be required. This will apply at Easter and Christmas when the students share eggs and candy canes.

VoSS Swimming

We are incredibly proud of all the students who attended the VoSS Swimming Carnival this week and gave it their best. It was a fabulous, sunny day! It was especially wonderful to see several students who were feeling nervous show great resilience and bravery by still giving it a go and competing. Congratulations to Bella, Reya, Chase, Jack B, Nate, Jack P, Leo P  and Charlotte who have made it through to District swimming at Ballina today.
