Las Vegas Sands Ends Pursuit of Japan Development Potential

Las Vegas Sands announced today that it will stop pushing for integrated resort development in Japan.

"My love for Japanese culture and admiration for Japan's strength as a tourist destination goes back more than 30 years to the days when I was running a COMDEX show in Japan, and I've always wanted my company to have a development opportunity there. And while my positive feelings for Japan are not disappearing, and I believe Japan will benefit from the business and leisure tourism created by the integrated resort, the system surrounding the development of IR has made our goals there unattainable. We appreciate all the friendships we have formed in Japan and our strong relationships, but it's time for our company to focus our energy on other opportunities," said Sheldon G. Adelson, Sands' president and CEO.

"I am very optimistic about our company's future and growth prospects. We operate best-in-class properties in the industry-leading market, and we are currently running important investment programs in both Macau and Singapore to create meaningful new growth in our existing portfolio. We also believe that the success of our MICE-based integrated resort model, which we pioneered in Las Vegas, Macau, and Singapore, will ultimately be considered by other Asian countries, especially as governments work to increase leisure and business tourism as a driving force for economic growth," Adelson said. 온라인 슬롯
