Jump Rope for Heart

Pleasant Valley Elementary students and staff recently hosted a Jump Rope for Heart event. All classes enjoyed the sunshine and music while they learned about and did some fundraising for heart health! A few neighbours joined in on the fun. It was a fantastic school event. The goal was to raise $2,000 and the final tally was $2,121. This event was lead by Grade 3 teacher, Mr. Lazaroff.

Board of Education Meeting

At the Regular Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the Board adopted a bylaw to access capital funds through capital funding programs from the Ministry of Education and Child Care. The Board approved the Draft Strategic Plan will soon be made available for public consultation. The Board also made a motion to direct staff to provide a report outlining the process for requesting and obtaining approval for planting trees and other landscaping on school grounds. This includes the selection of plant species, funding of materials and labour, ongoing maintenance, and any implications with respect to the Environmental Stewardship Action Plan.

The Board received a presentation from Farm2SchoolsBC about a community partner engagement process in food literacy education. Unfortunately, there were some technical and audio issues with the Board Meeting, so we are unable to share the video of the meeting. The slideshow from the presentation is available in the agenda link below (Page 13).
