ABOUT US
SI ... Gretsch guitar player, own 6 Gretsches and know 6 chords. Main influences are Eddie of course, Stray Cats and Restless. First influence was Cliff Richards and his 1959 album ‘Cliff’. Has a tendency to wander around when playing and deliberately messes up purely to please the crowd…honest.
Have played Neo Rockabilly for many years with various bands and writes songs with a ‘neo’ twist to them.
STEVE
Double bass player, own 2 double basses and knows 2 notes. Runs a farm and ruins any conversation with expletives. I grew up (sort of), with Simon and share the same music interests. Influences include Carl Perkins, Warren Smith, and neo Rockabilly acts like polecats, stray cats, the jets, restless.
RUSS...My wife bought me drum lessons when I was 30 years old. She felt that my constant (and annoying - apparently) tapping needed to be ‘channelled’. I joined a band a few weeks later, playing classic rock covers and played my first gig a couple of months after.
My first kit was a Premier XPK with Sabian cymbals but now using a smaller Gretsch Catalina Elite kit …. but with the Premier snare, which has a great ‘crack’ to it.
I have played in several bands over the years, one of which was the Q Plates, where I met Simon.
I’m not the most technical drummer by a long shot, but I’m currently the best drummer in this band (just) and it means that I fit into this band perfectly.
Music tastes are wide and varied, but mainly classic rock and progressive, particularly Genesis and Rush.
