Instructor’s Welcome Message:
It is our privilege to welcome you to the MCJROTC program. This course is designed to challenge students to grow as leaders, scholars, and citizens. Within a structured and disciplined environment, cadets learn the value of teamwork, responsibility, and respect while developing the confidence to lead and the character to serve. Our goal is to provide every cadet with experiences that strengthen personal discipline, enhance academic performance, and build skills that will last a lifetime. We look forward to working alongside our cadets as they set high standards, support one another, and represent our school and community with pride.
About MCJROTC
The JROTC program has long been recognized as a powerful tool for providing youth with essential skills in citizenship, leadership, and character development. Numerous studies show that students who participate in JROTC programs consistently achieve higher attendance, better grades, and increased graduation rates compared to their peers in general academic tracks, and principals and administrators maintain positive attitudes toward JROTC because of its proven impact on student discipline, motivation, and success. At its core, MCJROTC is a Leadership Education Program designed to develop character and citizenship, and while the structured, military-style learning environment may not be for everyone, research clearly demonstrates the significant benefits for those who choose to participate. The MCJROTC curriculum was the first JROTC program to be nationally accredited under CITA/SACS and remains directly aligned with National Education Standards, ensuring cadets receive a well-rounded and academically sound education.
What You Will Learn in MCJROTC
In MCJROTC, students will learn leadership, discipline, teamwork, and citizenship, which are important because they build the foundation for success in school, community, and future careers. This class helps students develop as learners by providing a structured environment that encourages responsibility, organization, and confidence. Through academics, drill, physical training, and service, cadets strengthen their character and leadership skills while gaining habits that make them disciplined, lifelong learners prepared to succeed in any path they choose.
Leadership Education-1
Leadership Education 1 uses lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, drill, and physical training to introduce cadets to the foundations of leadership, citizenship, and discipline. As the entry-level course in the MCJROTC curriculum, it builds the base for future learning while emphasizing respect, responsibility, and teamwork. Students can expect active teacher involvement through direct instruction, mentoring, and guidance to help them apply lessons in both the classroom and daily life.
