Welcome
What time is it? It's Advent! It's time for a Savior! It's time for LIGHT!
Join us these days of Advent as we wait for Jesus, our Savior and Light, and prepare for His coming.
Lighting of the Advent Wreath
The Advent wreath helps us count up to Christmas. You can make one or purchase one. Each week a candle is lit until Jesus' birthday is here. He is the light the world, the one we celebrate and anticipate. The first week of Advent we light the blue or purple HOPE candle.
You can go on Pinterest for many more craft ideas!
There are many wax candle options with a simple search.
Sing and Dance
Let's sing and prepare our hearts for Jesus' coming!
Scripture
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2
God's people had waited a very long time for the Savior to come! Finally, Jesus, the light, was on His way!
Talk
Engage with the Story
Where do you see lights at Christmas time? Hang lights or go on a drive looking for lights. Why do you think Lights are a part of our ChrISTMAS? How do Lights help when it's dark?
Sit at a table with a small ball. Roll the ball from person to person. The one who catches it says something that brings them Hope. HOpe gives us Light in the Darkness.
Pray + Bless
Jesus, You are the light! Thank you for bringing hope to the darkness of our world. Help us to shine your light each and every day. Amen.
Lay hands on each other as a family and say: "Jesus is the LIGHT. He gives His people HOPE.”
