Remind students they can meet with Heather in person at the JBar and via an appointment on Zoom or through the Virtual JBar as well as learn with our tutorials! Heather is hiring new digital media assistants whose sole responsibility will be to staff the JBar and assist students with their tech skills - stay tuned on this.

Resource Center + Labbies

If you need help with classroom technology or devices, stop by the Resource Center and ask for a labbie. If they are unable to answer your question, they will contact digital media specialist Natalie Lindsey on your behalf.

On Our Calendar

Thanks for all the support you gave for our Jayhawk Creative Challenge - we are disappointed we had to cancel, but were excited to host an Express workshop last Friday. If you missed it, we will be adding it to JSchoolTech as soon as editing is complete.

AI Presentation

If you missed the AI presentation at the faculty meeting or the followup email, you can still view the slidedeck.

Make sure you email halawrenz@ku.edu to schedule her appearance in your class. Reservations must be made by Sept. 23.

Our hub page offers students a quick way to access class specific tutorials. We have curated tutorials for classes on Audacity, Excel, Google Analytics, Infographics and video.

In addition to appearing in class, Heather can create tutorial content for you, curate resources and hold workshops - just reach out. I am happy to meet with you to do a needs analysis and brainstorm ways we could incorporate technology products into your classes.

Adobe Courses

Adobe has designed a series of free online courses. When completed, students can earn a badge. There are a wide range of topics available.

These courses are also great for faculty and staff looking to add technology skills to their classes.

New in AI

Adobe's new AI for video is very cool and a little scary.

Not to soapbox, but we need to be leaders in teaching people media literacy and separating real from fake!

Adobe Power Users

This group of faculty and staff meet the first Friday of each month to learn Adobe skills, share ideas and develop tips and tricks. We will also participate in (optional) monthly challenges.

Our next meeting is Oct. 4!

Who does what?

Heather is responsible for teaching and training needs. Her main role is supporting all students (and you!) in using industry standard technology. She is an Adobe expert and focuses on that in her work. She will be hiring digital media assistants to staff the JBar and support JSchoolTech.

Natalie is responsible for the desktop and classroom support. Part of her team supports the video podcasting and editing bays in Dole. Natalie is also in charge of the Stauffer-Flint Lab assistants (aka labbies). Labbies are available for Stauffer-Flint classroom support and technology questions. They are available in the Resource Center.

Cade handles technology purchasing, broadcast engineer work and supports faculty and classroom support as needed.

Kerry is in charge of the Resource Center and the students handling checkout during the day.
