ECHO PARK: A LIVING REPOSITORY OF BYWATER'S VOICES DESIGNED BY SOMHITA DAS

DESIGN PROPOSAL

Echo Park creates a dedicated space where the unheard narratives of Bywater residents can be preserved and celebrated. By partnering with StoryCorps, this architectural intervention establishes a permanent home for collecting, archiving, and sharing the authentic stories that shape this community's identity.

This place, Echo Park, is an exploratory route to finding one's voice in a repository of listening and conversations. A space where "Your story matters. You matter. Your voice matters." Inviting visitors to explore what it means to truly BE in Bywater while contributing to a growing archive of 1,000 stories that honor the neighborhood's past, present, and future. Like an echo requires physical space to exist, stories need to resonate, a landscape creates "echochambers" where stories can reverberate.
