Message from our Principal
End of HSC Examinations and Formal Night for the Class of 2025
As we reach the halfway point of our term we have much to celebrate and be grateful for. Friday saw the conclusion of our HSC examinations and thirteen years of schooling coming to an end for our Year 12 students. Tonight, they will celebrate this wonderful achievement with their peers and teachers at their school formal. We wish Year 12 all the very best and say a huge thank you to their year advisers, Leanne Clarkson and Brodee Jeffery who have guided them through their six years at Mullumbimby High School.
Year 7 Camp
Also this week, Year 7 are off at camp. Year group bonding camps are a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves to undertake now things and to make deeper friendships with their peers.
Mullumbimby Show
Our TAS and CAPA faculties supported our students to shine at the Mullumbimby Show over the weekend. Our Hospitality students were preparing delicious meals for the judges of the various competitions, and our Music students entertained the crowds with their great performances.
P&C Trivia Night Fundraiser
Don’t forget to purchase your table for the P&C Trivia Night Fundraiser, this Friday night. All funds will go towards supporting wellbeing programs here at the school and will benefit all of our students.
Mobile phones at school are not permitted in NSW
This week our focus is on phones. It is a good time to remind people that mobile phones are not permitted for students in any NSW school. This has been the case since Term 4 2024. At our school, phones are switched off and in student bags throughout the entire day. Headphones and ear buds are to remain off and away all day as well.
If phones or earbuds are out of students bags, they are confiscated and taken to the front office to be collected at the end of the day. Students are issued with a detention and a text message is sent to parents/carers. If this occurs on multiple occasions, a formal caution of suspension may be issued for continued disobedience.
When phones are off and away all day, student learning and engagement improves as do social interactions. Some students report relief when they know they don’t have to answer messages on their phone and are able to concentrate.
Thank you for your ongoing support and reminding your young person about our phone procedures.
