Director's Note
Welcome to our mystical world of The Magic Tree House Pirates Past Noon Kids. First, I want to thank all of you for entrusting your incredible children to me. They have been an absolute joy to work with, and it has been such a privilege to watch them grow over the course of these two weeks. I also have to brag about them for a moment. I was blown away by how quickly they learned this show. They came to rehearsal each day eager to work, ready to learn, and excited to perform. Because of their dedication, we were consistently ahead of schedule and completed this entire production in just six and a half days, which is an incredible accomplishment considering how much material this show contains. What a truly magical session of camp this has been! Last summer, during A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS, we created so many wonderful memories together. This year, I wanted to lean even further into the spirit of imagination and adventure. One of my goals was to help our young performers connect with the creativity that can grow from literature. At the end of each camp day, we gathered together around our storytime chair to read chapters from the Magic Tree House books, beginning with Pirates Past Noon. Since then, we've made our way through three books in the series, sharing laughs, adventures, and a love of storytelling along the way. Beyond the games, crafts, and daily adventures, these performers threw themselves wholeheartedly into bringing this story to life. Every rehearsal was filled with singing, dancing, laughter, and imagination. This show also gave us meaningful opportunities to talk about the importance of reading and how fortunate we are to have access to books and education. Stories have the power to transport us to new worlds, introduce us to different people and cultures, and remind us that curiosity is one of our greatest strengths. I hope this experience has inspired these young actors not only to continue performing, but also to keep turning pages and discovering new adventures through books. To our amazing campers: thank you for your kindness, your creativity, your bravery, and your willingness to dream. Whether you played a pirate, a parrot, a sea creature, or one of our adventurous siblings, each of you helped create the magic that you'll see onstage today. Thank you to our incredible staff, counselors-in-training, volunteers, and families for supporting these young performers every step of the way. Your encouragement and dedication make programs like this possible. Now, climb aboard the Magic Tree House, set sail for adventure, and enjoy the show!
