October Newsletter - Alert Health 24

WELCOME TO OUR MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

Welcome to October’s edition of our monthly newsletter. This month we have celebrated two work anniversaries, team members have participated in charitable endeavours, and we recognised the significance of World Mental Health Day.

Firstly, we take great pleasure in recognising and acknowledging the employee of the month for September. This exceptional team member is passionate about his work and consistently displays an impressive positive attitude.

We're also proud to share that one of our team members’ relatives is raising money for The Little Princess Trust by cutting his hair and donating it to help with creating wigs for children who have lost their hair.

Additionally, we're looking forward to celebrating Fireworks night and would like to share some safety tips for a safe and enjoyable experience.

We hope you enjoy reading this edition of the Alert Health 24 Newsletter and wish you all the best for the month ahead.

A massive congratulations to September's Employee of the Month; Chris from the Worcestershire & Gloucestershire Branch.

April, our Worcestershire & Gloucestershire Branch Manager, nominated Chris for this award to say a huge thank you for all his hard work and to shout out how amazing he is.

Thanks once again to Chris and congratulations on being Alert Health 24's September Employee of the Month!

WORK ANNIVERSARY

We are delighted to have celebrated two work anniversary’s this month. Two years ago, Robin became a part of the Alert Health 24 team as our Somerset Branch Manager. Since then, Robin's journey with us has been remarkable. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was promoted to the position of Senior Branch Manager this year.

Under his leadership, the Somerset team has expanded its reach to serve a broader community within the region. Robin's dedication and leadership have enabled our outstanding AH24 care staff to make a positive impact on the lives of numerous individuals throughout Somerset.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Robin for his commitment and dedication, and we look forward to celebrating lots more work anniversaries in the future.

In addition to Robin's milestone, we are delighted to commemorate Nicky's three-year work anniversary this month. Three years ago, the remarkable Nicky joined Alert Health 24, beginning her journey with us as the Shropshire Branch Manager in 2020.

Since then, Nicky has played a pivotal role in propelling our company towards future growth and success. Her outstanding leadership and contributions have culminated in her current role as Regional Operations Manager for the North.

Nicky's presence within our AH24 family has been invaluable, we are so grateful for Nicky’s passion for excellence, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills and we eagerly look forward to celebrating numerous more work anniversaries with her in the years to come.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

The 10th of October marked World Mental Health Day, a topic that we are passionate about here at Alert Health 24. Mental health is a universal concern that knows no boundaries, and in 2023, it's more important than ever to prioritise our well-being.

At Alert Health 24, we are committed to fostering a culture of mental wellness, not just today, but every day.

Remember that it’s ok not to be ok. Seeking help through talking to someone is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Here are just a few helplines that can offer support…

Samaritans. To talk about anything that is troubling you, you can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can call 116 123 (free from any phone)

SANEline. If you're experiencing a mental health problem or supporting someone else, you can call SANEline on 0300 304 7000 (4.30pm–10.30pm every day).

Shout. If you would prefer not to talk but want some mental health support, you can text SHOUT to 85258. Shout offers a confidential 24/7 text service providing support if you are in crisis and need immediate help.

We do also have a 24-hour helpline which all our staff have access to, your call will be answered by an experienced counsellor and all conversations are kept confidential. Please contact your local branch, and they will be more than happy to provide you with the telephone number to call.

Taking a moment for self-care can also make a huge difference to your wellbeing. Looking after yourself is so important especially when you look after others.

Please visit our website for self-care tips including a list of the benefits of putting yourself first.

HAPPINESS AT WORK WEEK

During the last week of September, we celebrated International Happiness at work week for our office staff. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to source amazing carers to support our community. We ensured that they had a happy week by giving them some little surprises and treats in the office.

THE LITTLE PRINCESS TRUST

Layla, our Somerset Branch's Healthcare Coordinator's Dad is on a heartwarming mission!

Steve is donating his hair to the Little Princess Trust, an incredible charity providing real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give Hair and hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.

If you would like to support Steve (Layla’s Dad) in his amazing efforts, please do so by using the JustGiving link below and donating what you can.

FOODBANK

Our Somerset team have been on an inspiring and heartwarming mission!

Robin, our Somerset Branch Manager recently reached out to the Foodbank in Weston Super Mare, Somerset, to offer a helping hand and to find out how Alert Health 24 could contribute to their cause.

The Foodbank in Weston Super Mare explained that due to the ongoing credit crisis, there have been a substantial reduction in food donations from the supermarkets and local community areas. This downturn has had an adverse impact on their ability to support those in need.

They decided to make a difference by placing a food donation box in the communal area at Pure Offices, the location of our Somerset office. This simple yet impactful act led to an outpouring of generosity from the people throughout the building. Alert Health 24 then matched the food donations and therefore doubled the amount of food they were able to donate.

Robin and Scarlett, representing the Somerset team, were then able to donate a huge amount of food donations to Weston Super Mare Foodbank, which was very gratefully received.

They are planning to do future fundraising for the local foodbank and if anyone wants to get involved in any way please contact communications@ah24.co.uk or you can visit the FoodBank website here: https://westonsupermare.foodbank.org.uk/

We are incredibly proud of our Somerset team for taking the time and effort to help others and make a difference to our local community!

FIREWORK NIGHT

Firework night is just around the corner, and we can't wait to join in the festivities. It's a time to gather with family and friends, admire the vibrant colours lighting up the night sky, and create lasting memories. Safety, however, remains a top priority during these celebrations. As we indulge in the spectacle of sparklers, a fun and traditional part of firework night, let's ensure everyone's well-being.

A valuable tip we'd like to share is to use carrots to hold sparklers. This clever idea makes them easier to handle, especially for children with little hands, the elderly, and those with learning disabilities. By putting the sparkler in a carrot, you not only create a safer distance from the body, but the carrot also doesn't conduct heat, reducing the risk of burns. It's a small adjustment that can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe while enjoying the magic of the night.

I have worked for Alert Health 24 for a year. I feel the office staff, Claire and Kirsty, support me and are always there to help solve any issues that may arise and book me into my favourite homes. I love the homes that I go to and feel that I have been allowed to build great relationships within them. I love it when I’m on shift with my fellow Alert Health teammates. Alert Health 24 is a fantastic company with a great all-inclusive, all-for-one team that starts from the top.
