Ysgol Tir Morfa - Newsletter

FRIDAY 13th MARCH 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week at Tir Morfa has been a very positive one for our school community. It was wonderful to see so many families join us for our bingo night – a great opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy some time as a community. Thank you to all who attended and supported the event.   It was also a pleasure to meet with many parents and carers during the pupil progression meetings. These conversations are always valuable in helping us work together to support every child’s learning and development.   We were incredibly proud of some of our pupils from Grange Road who represented the school at the MP forum this week, where they took part in discussions about social media. They spoke confidently and thoughtfully, and were excellent ambassadors for our school.   Despite a very windy day mid-week, the children showed great resilience and carried on with their learning as normal. We are already looking forward to another busy and exciting week ahead.   Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Susan H. Roberts

Headteacher

Information & Other Events

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers

As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.

BINGO NIGHT

Thank you to everyone who braved the terrible weather on Thursday evening to join us for our Bingo Night. It was a fantastic and successful event, and it was lovely to see members of our school community and our neighbouring community coming together to share in the fun. A huge thank you to the Friends of Ysgol Tir Morfa for organising such a wonderful evening, and for the delicious homemade cakes that everyone enjoyed. We would also like to extend our thanks to those who kindly donated the fantastic prizes that were available to be won. We look forward to building on the success of this event and planning more enjoyable community events in the future.
