About The Composer

The German-Lebanese composer was born in 2001. His musical path began at the age of five with the piano. He studied with Alla Schatz, Lucy Revers-Chin, and Irma Kliauzaitė. At Haus Marteau, he attended a master class in piano improvisation with Galina Vracheva. Later, he learned organ with Peter Stenglein and studied the riq with Yousif Sheronick, as well as Assaad Boustany. He spent his childhood and youth in Coburg, with regular holidays in Beirut. Since 2022, he has been living in Salzburg, where he studies composition with Christian Ofenbauer at the Mozarteum University and is active as a composer, arranger, and improviser.

Background and Education

Mozarteum University: Bachelor of Music in Composition: Studied with Christian Ofenbauer. Awarded the Leistungsstipendium for academic excellence in the academic years 2022/23 as well as 2024/25. The Ordentliches Stipendium der Universität Mozarteum was granted for 2025/26.

His music has been performed by renowned ensembles such as the Schallfeld Ensemble, and presented at prestigious festivals including the Limina Festival. It has also been featured in distinguished concert venues such as Konzertsaal Haus Marteau, Salzburg Cathedral, Wiener Saal, Bösendorfersaal, Solitär, and Kleines Studio. Additionally, his work has been showcased in the Doppler Concert Series by the Christian Doppler Fund.

Impressions

Mr. Daouk's music is known for its evocative atmosphere, and unconventional ideas. His pieces have unusual durations and post-minimalist structures that connect repetition and transformation. A central focus of his work is transcultural composition between Arabic and Western music. Besides that, humor and nature are recurring sources of inspiration.
