San Sebastián - Zarautz Camino del norte - spain 2025

6 JUNE 2025

We had to drag ourselves away from the luxury of our hotel in old town San Sebastián with views of the bay and hit the Camino trails following the yellow arrows!

It was a great day and less challenging than the day into San Sebastián, but still a solid day of walking. The scenery was spectacular as ever with constant views out over the ocean, or forest tracks mixed with quiet rural lanes with the odd local car or tractor to contend with. Only a handful of pilgrims were about and it’s not until you stop for lunch that you realise that you’re not the only ones walking this Camino route.

We checked into our modest hotel (a reality check after living the high life for the last couple of nights) and soon after headed for the beach for a quick dip.

It’s amazing to watch the locals enjoy their piece of paradise, the beach seemed to get busier the later it got, but then again, they don’t eat until late!

We finished the evening asking the hotel reception for our key only to discover that I had asked for the wrong room number and got the key to the room next door! It threw me when I didn’t recognise the flip flops on the floor and that the room was a mirror image of ours… whoops!

Tomorrow is a mega day. We’re all crossing our fingers we’ll make it???
