Alex Gomez
YMCA Camp Piomingo
Alex Gomez has become an essential part of YMCA Camp Piomingo’s success, combining hands-on service with professional expertise to strengthen camp operations. He plays a key role in the equestrian program, transporting horses for off-season boarding, and maintaining safe, well-kept facilities through paddock upkeep, fencing repairs, and barn maintenance. His work ensures this unique program continues to thrive for campers. Beyond his technical contributions, Alex builds community. He regularly welcomes international staff into his home on weekends, helping them feel connected and supported while far from home. As a professional engineer, Alex also provides valuable guidance on facility improvements. He has helped secure high-quality work at competitive prices, resulting in an estimated $50,000 in cost savings—resources that can be reinvested directly into programs for youth and families. Now serving on the YMCA Camp Piomingo Advisory Board, Alex continues to lead with generosity, expertise, and a deep commitment to the YMCA’s mission.
Maurice Brown
Chestnut Street Family YMCA
Maurice Brown has strengthened the Chestnut Street Family YMCA through thoughtful leadership and a deep commitment to community impact. As Chair of the Social Responsibility Committee and a member of the Board of Directors, he has helped expand partnerships and mobilize resources that directly support those we serve. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing key initiatives such as the Men’s Supportive Housing program, the Back-to-School Drive, and Fall Festivals—efforts that provide meaningful support, stability, and connection across the community. Maurice brings people together with purpose. His ability to build relationships, align partners, and focus on shared goals has elevated the YMCA’s reach and effectiveness. He approaches every opportunity with a strategic mindset while keeping the needs of the community at the center. Grounded in humility and integrity, Maurice leads in a way that inspires action and strengthens the work of the Y every day.
Jami Beasley
Clark County Family YMCA
Jami Beasley brings energy, authenticity, and a natural ability to connect with others in her role as a YMCA volunteer. After joining the YMCA as a staff member in 2021, she quickly stepped into a leadership role, helping rebuild the Annual Campaign with passion and purpose. Jami shares her personal connection to the Y in a way that resonates. Her genuine belief in the mission inspires others to give and get involved, making her a powerful advocate for the work we do. During the 2025 Annual Campaign, Jami raised over $5,000—more than doubling her previous efforts and becoming the top non-board fundraiser. Her success reflects both her dedication and the trust she builds with those around her. Through strong relationships and consistent engagement, Jami continues to expand the YMCA’s reach and impact. Her leadership helps ensure more individuals and families have access to the programs and support they need.
Dan Whitis
Downtown Family YMCA
Dan Whitis is a trusted leader whose steady commitment has helped the Downtown Family YMCA grow its impact year after year. As a member of the Board of Advisors and a two-time Annual Campaign Chair, he has guided efforts that consistently exceed fundraising goals. His leadership has helped expand access to YMCA programs and memberships, ensuring more individuals and families can participate regardless of financial circumstances. Dan approaches his role with focus, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility to the community. Dan’s connection to the Y spans years of service, beginning with the Bullitt County YMCA and continuing through his involvement today. As a member of the Triangle Giving Society, he also demonstrates a deep personal commitment to sustaining the Y’s mission. Dependable and mission-driven, Dan is someone the YMCA can always count on to lead with purpose and follow through.
Karen Ellis
Floyd County Family YMCA
Karen Ellis provides a unique and deeply meaningful presence at the Floyd County Family YMCA through her service as Chaplain. Since 2022, she has dedicated more than 600 hours to offering spiritual care, encouragement, and support to members and staff. Her work is both visible and accessible—often connecting with individuals in the lobby or making herself available by phone to ensure no one feels alone. She creates a space where people can find comfort, guidance, and connection during both everyday moments and times of need. Karen helped establish a welcoming chaplaincy program that thoughtfully integrates spiritual well-being into the YMCA experience. Her presence adds another layer of care that strengthens the entire community. With compassion shaped by both professional training and personal experience, Karen offers steady support, encouragement, and hope to all she serves.
Jo Ann Mattingly
Northeast Family YMCA
Jo Ann Mattingly creates a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone she encounters at the Northeast Family YMCA. She is a consistent presence with LIVESTRONG® and Total Movement with Parkinson’s groups, where her kindness and attention help participants feel comfortable, valued, and connected. Each week, she shows up ready to help—greeting members, supporting programs like line dancing and choir, and assisting with daily operations. Her reliability and positive attitude help create a smooth and enjoyable experience for all. Jo Ann’s care extends beyond the Y as she visits members who are ill, delivers meals, and sends thoughtful cards to lift spirits. These personal touches reflect her genuine concern for others. Through both small gestures and consistent dedication, Jo Ann strengthens the sense of community that makes the YMCA special.
Filomena Vicente
YMCA at Norton Commons
Filomena Vicente brings energy and creativity to everything she does at the YMCA at Norton Commons. As a board member, she actively supports fundraising efforts, including organizing an annual "spin in the lobby" to raise awareness for LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA. She also helps create engaging community experiences, from leading Zumba at events to supporting family-focused gatherings like the Fall Festival and Membership Picnic. Her enthusiasm brings people together in fun and meaningful ways. In group fitness, Filomena is a natural connector who helps new members feel comfortable and engaged from the start. She builds relationships and encourages participation, strengthening the sense of belonging within the YMCA. Her leadership, positivity, and willingness to get involved continue to energize the Norton Commons community and support the YMCA’s mission.
Jesse Vaughn
Oldham County Family YMCA
Jesse Vaughn creates a positive and encouraging environment for young athletes as a volunteer coach at the Oldham County Family YMCA. Season after season, he shows up ready to support, teach, and guide each player. His teams are built on respect, effort, and teamwork. Many players return year after year because of the supportive culture he creates and the relationships he builds. Jesse focuses on helping kids grow in confidence and character, not just skill—ensuring every child feels valued regardless of the score. His approach helps young athletes develop resilience, sportsmanship, and a sense of belonging. He also sets a strong example for fellow coaches through his consistency, patience, and positive leadership. Through his dedication and genuine care for each child, Jesse makes a lasting impact on the lives of the youth he serves.
Hilary Noltemeyer
Republic Bank Foundation YMCA
Hilary Noltemeyer has made a significant impact at the Republic Bank Foundation YMCA through her leadership and dedication to community programs. As Chair of the Social Responsibility Committee, she has helped lead major initiatives such as the Back to School Bash, which provides over 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and access to essential services for local children. She also supports events like the Fall Festival, helping create meaningful opportunities for families to connect and engage with the YMCA. Dan Dobson
YMCA Safe Place Services
Dan Dobson has made a lasting impact on YMCA Safe Place Services through his hands-on work and dedication. In 2025, he volunteered numerous days to redesign the Shelter House clothing closet, creating a more organized, functional, and welcoming space for youth and staff. He also contributed to additional projects, including rebuilding the deck and improving program shelving. His work has enhanced both the safety and usability of these spaces, directly benefiting those who rely on them. Dan brings not only skill, but also a positive and engaging presence. He connects with youth and staff through kindness, patience, and encouragement, often sharing stories and offering support. His willingness to give his time and talents has strengthened both the environment and the experience of those we serve.
Andrew Beasley
Southeast Family YMCA
Andrew Beasley is a dedicated volunteer coach who brings energy and encouragement to every season at the Southeast Family YMCA. In 2025, he volunteered more than 100 hours coaching baseball, soccer, and basketball, positively impacting over 60 young athletes. He creates an environment where kids feel supported, confident, and excited to participate. His ability to connect with players makes him one of the most requested coaches. Andrew focuses on building teamwork, confidence, and a love of the game. He encourages every child to do their best while creating a positive and inclusive experience. Through his consistency, enthusiasm, and genuine care, Andrew helps young athletes grow both on and off the field.
Deborah Pinkerton
Southwest Family YMCA
Deb Pinkerton is a dedicated volunteer who brings consistency, care, and a positive presence to the Southwest Family YMCA. She gives her time to support programs and ensure members feel welcomed and valued from the moment they walk through the doors. Deb approaches every opportunity to serve with reliability and attention, helping create a smooth and supportive environment for both members and staff. Her willingness to step in wherever needed makes her an important part of daily operations.
