JULY communiqué

Hi everyone,

We are living in very crucial and difficult time. Personally, with many complaining about the rising cost of living, locally with the raising of taxes (E-invoicing restructuring, SST, etc.) and internationally, with the escalating tension and war in the Middle East, the effects on the ordinary man on the street seem inevitable and undeniable. All these remind me of Romans 8:18-28:

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope, because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. …

Paul gives us 3 keys as we enter a time when the whole “creation groans”:

1. The Holy Spirit helps us break through with our prayers

“Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Rom 8:26)

2. We know all these will pass and it will be well for us because we love Jesus.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom 8:28)

3. We need to seek renewal of our spirits. What happens around us and to us will sap us of our energy and vitality. Our spirit life will sustain us powerfully.

“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Cor 4:16-18)

God is watching over you and he will lead you through it all.
