Clipped In for Life believes a lifelong connection to bicycles improves lives and strengthens communities.
We design events that motivate and inspire people who have already integrated bikes into their lives, and we make big impacts in our community by designing youth cycling programs that take place at school, after school, and on break. Kids in our programs build confidence, perseverance, and independence by discovering that riding a bike is a life-long adventure full of excitement, freedom, perspective, purpose, friendships, and belonging.
Clipped In for Life programs challenge mental and physical abilities in a way that is welcoming and encouraging without being overwhelming. Not only do our bicycle races welcome riders and volunteers of all levels and stages of life who seek adventure, achievement and connection, the races help generate funds to sustain our youth programs.
Our vision is to bring cycling from the fringe to the forefront of our culture by designing a clear pathway from learning to ride, to riding for life.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit, our mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to find achievement, adventure, and connection through cycling and other athletic activities – thus, helping improve lives and bring communities together.
Board Member Responsibilities
Members of the board of directors are trustees who act on behalf of an organization's constituents, including program participants, funders, and members. The basic responsibilities of the Board of Directors include, but are not limited to:
Determining the organization’s mission and purpose
Supporting and evaluating the Executive Director with the goals of the organization in mind
Determining which of the organization’s programs are consistent with its mission and monitoring the effectiveness of these programs
Assisting in the development of the organization’s annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place
Defining prerequisites for potential new board members, orienting these new members, and periodically evaluating performance
Adhering to legal and ethical standards and norms
Clearly defining and articulating the organization’s mission, accomplishments and goals to gain support from the community and enhancing the organization’s public image
Time and Financial Commitments
Clipped In for Life’s Board of Directors serve 2-year terms. Board members may serve an unlimited number of terms.
Board members are expected to attend five of the six Board Meetings yearly, each meeting being approximately two hours in duration. Ideally members will not miss more than two consecutive meetings as there is always the option to connect to Board meetings via phone or Zoom.
Average time commitment is 5-10 hours per month.
Be accessible for and responsive to follow-up contacts in between Board Meetings.
Board members are also expected to serve on a committee (meeting schedules vary from monthly to a couple/yr.), volunteer at major events, and/or be active in some other area that contributes to Clipped In for Life's mission and vision.
Make a meaningful and impactful annual financial gift to Clipped In for Life. We hope Clipped In for Life will be one of your top 3 gifts annually and your gift is a meaningful gift for you. For those who can consider this, we offer a suggested amount of $1,000/year or $84/month. Please note- we do not wish this to be a barrier to participation in Board service and giving can take many forms (i.e. talent, time etc.)
