Fishing & Heritage Day Returns May 16
The annual Fishing & Heritage Day will return to South Otselic on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering a full day of family-friendly activities throughout the community. Hosted by the Otselic Valley Fishing & Heritage Association, this popular event celebrates the area’s outdoor traditions, local history, and community spirit.
Visitors can enjoy free fishing clinics at the hatchery pond, hatchery tours, arts and crafts vendors, food, live music, antique tractor displays, historical exhibits, games, raffles, and activities for all ages. A free shuttle bus will run throughout the day between event locations. Community highlights include the Otselic Valley Student Art Show at OV Central School, library activities and Makerspace demonstrations, Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Powerhouse tiny home, and special cultural programs presented by the Shakowi Cultural Center of the Oneida Indian Nation.
One of the day’s favorite traditions, the Duck Derby, returns at 3:00 p.m. near Gorge Creek Bridge, with proceeds supporting the OV FFA and the Otselic Valley Fishing & Heritage Association.
Fishing & Heritage Day is free to attend and offers something for everyone. For a full schedule of events and additional details, visit the event website.
