Our first round of after school clubs for 2024. This week our Eco Club began making decorations with wool and made a bird box that will be part of a bigger project we have planned with 'Biodiversity Wales' and the 'UK Tree Council'. Watch this space!

If you would like to book any of our clubs, click the link in our school dojo page or speak with the adult leading the session...

In Dosbarth Padarn we have been developing our numeracy skills using different resources and how we can prove our thinking.

Our focus has been counting within teen numbers and beyond. Our little friends have been counting in Welsh and consolidating their understanding of tens and units.

Numicon! What a great resource our class love to use! We have explored other ways of showing teen numbers and used our number bonds to check. Gwych!

Our staff had a great opportunity to work within our cluster @Broughtoncp and @WoodyCPSaltney developing digital skills. We are eager to further our Microbit skills 🤩 diolch Will from @technocamps 👏

We have set up our class shop – Siop Tegid - in Dosbarth Tegid this week and we are using it to practice our Welsh when we are having our snack.

We have been learning to use Venn diagrams in maths and we have been sorting ourselves using different criteria. We are still busy practicing our 4 times tables.

In Dosbarth Brenig this week, we have enjoyed writing kennings about a mythical creature - the Afanc. We had to generate lots of vocabulary to make the poem read like a riddle for people to guess which creature we had chosen. We have also started exploring our new text for English lessons - King of the Sky - and have asked lots of questions about what the story will be about. In our Maths lessons, we have been subtracting using a number line, using counters to help us to subtract from a multiple of ten. We have made lots of progress with this and have started working on taking away two 2-digit numbers too.
In Dosbarth Gwynant, we have been exploring our new picture book, King of the Sky. The children have explored what they like about it from its cover, and made predictions about the text. We have been working on improving the way we open sentences using prepositions and conjunctions, as well as generating lots of wonderful vocabulary to help our readers to picture the setting. In Maths, we have been tackling written methods for multiplication, and some children have even ventured into using the grid method for long multiplication questions. We have been very proud of how hard the children have worked this week. Year Six got to spend some time with Mrs Salamone from St David's High School today, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Whilst Year Six were out, Year Five had another go at using the microbits to code a dice and a Magic 8 ball: they really impressed us with their ability to debug incorrect code.
Dosbarth Alwen have had a fab week developing their numeracy skills, working on letter formation and using our digital skills in a team with MTiny. What fun we have had! Lots planned to introduce a new story next week...
