Dear University Community,
- Last Friday welcomed retiring Chancellor John Sharp and his wife Diana to Laredo to celebrate his nearly 14 years of leadership for the Texas A&M University System. His impact on the System and our campus has been momentous and we all wish him happy trails they begin their next chapter.
- The weekend here was full of action, including the 9th Coastal Bend Mathematics and Statistics Conference, the induction of new members into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and the performance of our music faculty in the ‘Harmony Across Borders’ concert. Also this weekend, some great Dustdevil Softball team play with a doubleheader sweep over rival the TAMU-Kingsville Javelinas.

- It’s Graduate Student Appreciation Week, April 7 – 11. Check out the schedule of special activities.
- This week, April 9 – 11, we host the 29th Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference, bringing together academic researchers, business leaders, and policymakers to discuss critical trade issues affecting the Western Hemisphere and globe.
- The QEP LEARN and Paint event is Wednesday, April 9 from 9 - 11 a.m., on the Student Center Patio.
- This Thursday at 5 p.m., plan to attend the Opening Reception for the Senior Art Practicum’s Patchwork: Voices of Many art exhibition in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery.

Registration for Maymester, Summer and Fall 2025 at TAMIU Now Open
Registration for TAMIU's Maymester, Summer and Fall 2025 courses is now underway online via Uconnect.
An individual’s registration start date is based on the following phased registration schedule:
- Monday, April 7 and Tuesday, April 8 – Graduate students, Seniors (90+ total earned credit hours), Honor students, Early College High School students, Texas Academy of International and STEM Studies students, Parenting students, Student Athletes, Esports athletes, Active-Duty students and Veterans.
- Wednesday, April 9 – Juniors (60 – 89 total earned credit hours) and TRIO Program students.
- Thursday, April 10 – All students.

This week, we celebrate our graduate students! Your work is essential and deeply valued. Graduate school isn't easy, yet you continue to show up with passion and purpose. Here's a lineup of our events. All activities are hosted through TAMIU's Graduate School.

- Tuesday (April 8) - Donuts with the Dean at 8:30 a.m. in ZSC 223 or 4:30 p.m. at the Breezeway.
- Wednesday (April 9) - Grad app fee waiver day for grad apps submitted this day.
- Thursday (April 10) - Come by our office for an "We Appreciate U" t-shirt.

The 29th Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference will take center stage at TAMIU Wednesday-Friday, April 9 - 11, bringing together academic researchers, business leaders, and policymakers to discuss critical trade issues affecting the Western Hemisphere and globe.
Release the Quacken: Disco Duck Edition set for Wednesday, April 16
There’s no ducking the numbers… we made history this Spring 2025 with a historic enrollment – the largest EVER in the history of TAMIU! In celebration of this tremendous feat, we filled our Acequia Fountain with thousands of TAMIU-branded, sparkling silver rubber duckies!
Join us Wednesday, April 16, 11 a.m. at the Breezeway to celebrate this special moment.
